Zara Tindall Gives Birth to Baby Boy in Unexpected Bathroom Delivery
Zara Tindall, the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, has welcomed a baby boy in a surprising bathroom delivery.
The proud father, Mike Tindall, confirmed the news of their son, Lucas Philip Tindall, who was born on Sunday evening at their family home on Princess Anne's Gloucestershire estate.
Weighing 8lbs 4oz, the baby arrived so quickly that they didn't have time to reach the hospital, and Zara's friend Dolly assisted in the delivery.
Mike Tindall, a former England rugby legend, shared the joyous news on his podcast, The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, describing Zara as a warrior.
He revealed that their friend Dolly played a crucial role in ensuring a safe delivery, as she had been present for all three of their children's births.
With the midwife arriving just in time, the couple welcomed their new son on the bathroom floor.
After snipping the cord and enjoying some precious skin-to-skin contact, Mike took his newborn downstairs to watch sports on TV.
He expressed his delight at being able to relax at home, saying, “The best thing about being at home was the best thing as soon as he's wrapped up, you're skin-to-skin, straight downstairs, TV room, golf on, and I was like, this is what me and you are doing.”
When asked about Zara's well-being, Mike praised her strength and resilience, acknowledging the challenges women face during childbirth.
He emphasized her recovery by mentioning that they went for a walk together with their new baby.
Earlier, Mike had expressed his desire to have a boy, having two daughters, Mia and Lena.
In December, he announced the pregnancy on his podcast, jokingly discussing potential names related to the pandemic.
However, in an interview with the Times, he revealed that they had kept the baby's gender a surprise and expressed their hopes for a boy.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the birth of Zara and Mike Tindall's third child, Lucas Philip Tindall.
The Palace released a statement announcing the joyous news and conveying the Queen and Prince Philip's delight.
Baby Lucas Philip Tindall is the couple's third child and the Queen and Prince Philip's 10th great-grandchild.
He is currently 22nd in line to the throne, following the recent birth of Princess Eugenie's son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.
The name Lucas Philip is considered a sweet tribute to his great-grandfather, Prince Philip.
This year, the Queen can expect her 11th great-grandchild as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are anticipating the arrival of their second child, a girl, in the summer.
Zara and Mike Tindall tied the knot on July 20, 2011, at Cannon Gate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The wedding was attended by various senior members of the Royal Family, including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry.
