Top Stars Return for King’s Concert as Meghan is Excluded from Coronation
In an unexpected turn of events, renowned singers who had previously declined invitations to the coronation ceremony have now expressed their desire to participate in the grand event.
The concert preparations took a surprising twist when these top artists decided to join the celebrations.
Among them, Beyoncé has even offered to sing the opening song in support of the new king.
King Charles will be crowned on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, and the festivities will extend throughout the weekend, featuring processions, a concert, and nationwide lunches.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry will attend his father's crowning ceremony, while his wife, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain in California.
Initially, Adele and Ed Sheeran had declined invitations to perform at the coronation concert.
Sheeran cited scheduling conflicts, as he had a concert in Texas the day before, making it challenging for him to return to England in time.
Adele had similar reasons at the time.
However, their managers have now reached out to the palace, expressing their desire to attend the coronation ceremony.
It remains uncertain if there is still room for them in the concert lineup due to this sudden change.
The official lineup for the coronation concert has yet to be confirmed, but sources suggest that Lionel Richie and the Spice Girls are the frontrunners to take the stage.
There are also rumors of a possible appearance by Harry Styles.
The absence of Meghan from the coronation has generated even more anticipation among A-listers, who have expressed their excitement for the event through social media posts.
The ceremony at Westminster Abbey will commence at 11 am, following the arrival of the royal family in a grand procession from Buckingham Palace.
After the ceremony, additional members of the royal family will join for the procession back to the palace.
The day's ceremonial events will conclude with the king and queen consort, accompanied by other family members, appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
The coronation concert, set to take place at Windsor Castle, promises to be a star-studded affair.
Take That, Bette Midler, and Lionel Richie are rumored to be part of the lineup.
The concert will also showcase the Coronation Choir, a diverse group comprising community choirs, amateur singers, refugee choirs, LGBTQ+ and singing groups, as well as deaf singing choirs from across the UK.
The audience for the concert will consist of 10,000 people selected through a ticket ballot, along with volunteers from charities affiliated with the king and queen.
While full details of RSVPs are yet to be confirmed, it is expected that Westminster Abbey's 2,200 seats will be filled with members of the royal family, the prime minister, representatives from the House of Parliament, heads of state, and other royals from around the world.
Insiders have shed light on Meghan's perception of her role within the royal family.
She had envisioned herself as the Beyoncé of the UK upon marrying Queen Elizabeth's grandson.
However, the realities of royal responsibilities and strict protocols disillusioned her.
Palace staff reported that Meghan increasingly felt anxious and misunderstood, struggling with the multitude of rules that limited her actions as a member of the royal family.
One former palace insider remarked, “I think Meghan imagined she was going to be the Beyoncé of the UK.
Being a member of the royal family would have given her that kudos.
But what she realized was that there were so many stupid laws that she couldn't even do the things she could do as a private citizen, which is difficult.”
