In a surprising turn of events, Tom Cruise has made a last-minute decision to ban Meghan Markle from the premiere of his latest film, Top Gun: Maverick.
This comes after a massive boycott of the movie, which has led to Sussex being blocked from attending the event.
However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, will be making their red carpet return alongside Cruise.
The highly anticipated UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick is set to take place on May 19th at London's Leicester Square.
It is expected that Kate, who has previously dazzled in Hollywood glam during the James Bond premiere last September, will once again steal the spotlight with her stunning attire.
Interestingly, this won't be the first time that William and Kate have seen the film.
They were treated to a special screening of the Top Gun sequel by Cruise himself, who had learned of William's admiration for the original 1986 movie.
As a former Royal Air Force helicopter pilot, William shares a connection with the aviation-themed film.
During the premiere, William and Kate will walk the red carpet and have the opportunity to meet Cruise and other cast members, including Miles Teller, who portrays the son of Cruise's late comrade Goose from the original movie.
Additionally, they will be introduced to film studio executives, director Joe Krasinski, and representatives from the film and TV charity.
The premiere, hosted by Paramount Pictures and the film and TV charity, marks the 72nd royal film performance organized by the charity in its nearly 100-year history.
This charitable organization provides support to numerous individuals working behind the scenes in the British film and television industry.
Their efforts have been particularly crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has left many technicians and skilled craftspeople unemployed.
Notably, this won't be the only occasion where Cruise will be seen alongside the royal family.
On Sunday, he will co-host a star-studded televised event at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, celebrating Queen Elizabeth's remarkable 70-year reign.
The event, titled “A Gallop Through History,” will also feature a special appearance by the Queen's great-grandchildren.
Cruise has had previous encounters with the British royal family.
In 2017, he met the late Prince Philip during a dinner commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Outward Bound Trust at Buckingham Palace.
Furthermore, in 1992, he mingled with Princess Diana, along with his then-wife Nicole Kidman, during the premiere of the romantic drama film Far and Away at Leicester Square Empire Cinema.
Cruise also attended Princess Diana's funeral in 1997, again accompanied by Kidman.
