Title: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Journey from Not Conn to Montecito Mansion
Prince Harry was both excited and embarrassed as Meghan Markle entered their new home, Not Conn.
The couple's Montecito mansion in the United States is a far cry from their former property in the UK, Frogmore Cottage, which they had to leave after stepping down from the royal family.
Recently, they finally handed back the keys to Frogmore Cottage, which was gifted to them by the late queen but had been officially evicted from earlier this year.
Interestingly, it seems that initially, the couple had their eyes set on a completely different property.
They reportedly wanted to live in Windsor Castle itself and had requested the living quarters be made available to them.
However, Harry's late grandmother firmly denied their request and instead gave them Frogmore Cottage.
The monarch politely suggested that they live in the nearby Frogmore, as only she and Prince Philip had private apartments within the castle.
Royal author and historian Hugo Vickers shared that there were empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments, which the Sussexes may have had the right to or perhaps some further living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things.
However, it was deemed inappropriate for a young family to reside there.
Before receiving Frogmore Cottage, there were rumors that Meghan had her eyes on the Wells, a countryside estate in Mahal.
It was said that Prince Harry omitted this part from his book, where he and Meghan stayed at William and Catherine's home during Christmas to avoid certain responsibilities.
Instead of staying at the main house, William and Catherine extended an invitation for them to stay at Amber Hall, providing them with their own space when needed.
Meghan apparently found Anne Rahat more impressive than Nottingham Cottage, which she switched to after the marriage.
Despite being gifted Nottingham Cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth, Meghan expressed her preference for a grander abode.
The couple even mentioned in a Netflix series that Nottingham Cottage was small with low ceilings, although it was still situated on palace grounds.
In his memoir, Harry strategically disregarded their visits to Nottingham Cottage, omitting it from his narrative.
This omission contradicted Meghan's cherished memories of the place and the efforts made by the royal family to make her feel welcome.
It seems that Harry wanted to convey a victim narrative, implying that they were treated poorly by everyone.
However, the reality was quite different, as the royal family had gone to great lengths to accommodate Meghan.
The journey from Not Conn to their Montecito mansion has been eventful for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Despite their initial desire to live in Windsor Castle itself, they ultimately settled for Frogmore Cottage before moving to the United States.
Their preference for a grander abode was evident, and they even found Nottingham Cottage underwhelming.
As they continue to build their new life, it is clear that the couple's journey has been filled with both excitement and challenges.
