Title: Meghan Markle’s Popularity Plummets as Tyler Perry Comes to the Rescue
Meghan Markle, alongside Prince Harry, recently sat down for an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in California, where the couple now resides after leaving the UK.
In this candid conversation, they revealed their reasons for stepping away from royal life and disclosed the identity of the friend who aided their move to California.
During the interview, Harry shared that in early 2020, as they were transitioning away from their senior royal roles and striving for financial independence, he was informed at short notice that their security would be withdrawn.
This change in their status as non-working members of the royal family resulted in the removal of their security.
Initially, the couple had relocated to Canada, but their whereabouts in Vancouver were exposed by the tabloids.
As the coronavirus pandemic escalated, Harry realized the urgency to find a safer place to reside.
Concerned about the borders closing, the loss of security, and the uncertainty surrounding lockdowns, Harry expressed the need to leave.
It was during this time that a friend, Tyler Perry, extended an invitation for them to stay at one of his homes in Southern California.
Grateful for Perry's generosity, Meghan acknowledged that it provided them with the breathing room they needed to figure out their next steps.
Currently, Meghan and Harry have settled in their own house in the Santa Barbara area, not far from Oprah's residence, where the interview took place.
They have established their own non-profit foundation called Archule and have signed lucrative deals with Spotify and Netflix for content creation through Archule Audio and Archule Productions.
The interview also shed light on Meghan's struggles with mental health while living in the UK, discussions within the palace about their child's skin tone, and a rift between Harry and his father.
These revelations added to the already intense scrutiny faced by the couple.
In another development, Meghan's decision to move to the US after leaving her royal duties has not yielded the desired results.
According to Niall Gardner, a Washington-based foreign policy expert and royal family enthusiast, Meghan's popularity in the United States has significantly declined over the past year and is expected to continue declining.
This mirrors the decline in her popularity in the UK.
After relinquishing their roles as working members of the royal family and relocating to Canada and later California, Meghan and Harry's comments about the monarchy during the Oprah interview faced intense scrutiny.
A week after the interview, an economist survey conducted by YouGov revealed that Meghan's net favorability had dropped from plus 28 to plus 15, with negative ratings increasing by 10 points to 33%.
Less than half of the respondents had a favorable view of Meghan, while a third held an unfavorable view.
A more recent YouGov poll conducted in May 2022 showed a further decline in Meghan's favorability.
Only 45% of respondents held a favorable or somewhat favorable view of the Duchess of Sussex, while nearly half had a very or somewhat unfavorable view.
As Meghan and Harry navigate their new lives outside the royal family, it seems that public opinion, both in the US and the UK, has shifted.
While Tyler Perry's support provided them with a temporary respite, the challenges they face in rebuilding their public image remain significant.
