The Moment Sophie Wessex Sternly Rebukes the Impish Princess Charlotte
A Heated Exchange Between Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Princess Charlotte Goes Viral
In a recent royal function, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Princess Charlotte found themselves caught up in a heated exchange on the royal balcony.
The video capturing this moment has quickly become viral on the Internet.
During King Charles' first Trooping the Colour on June 17, both Sophie and Charlotte were present.
As the procession went by, the two royals appeared to engage in conversation on the balcony.
Princess Charlotte, dressed in a red and white sailor dress, was seen leaning in to speak with her great-aunt, Sophie.
However, Sophie's reaction seemed stern, and the child quickly turned aside.
The video, initially posted on X, a former Twitter platform, by Royal Central, has garnered over 586,000 views, sparking widespread speculation among fans regarding what might have been said between the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Charlotte.
Initially, social media users assumed that Sophie, Prince Edward's wife, had reprimanded the young princess, instructing her to sit down during the military procession along Horse Guards Parade.
This assumption led to a flurry of comments beneath the video.
One person empathetically stated, “Poor Charlotte, whatever Sophie said,” while another remarked, “After Sophie speaks, observe Charlotte's reaction.
She doesn't seem happy.
It seems like Sophie was telling her to sit down.”
However, there were those who disagreed with this interpretation.
Some individuals challenged the notion that Charlotte was being scolded or told to sit down.
In response to repeated queries on the matter, one comment read, “She's not being told off or asked to sit down.”
Another comment suggested that Sophie may have said, “Not long now.”
To shed light on the situation, a trained lip-reader offered their analysis of what was said between the two royals.
According to Jeremy Freeman, who spoke with the Mirror in an interview, the Duchess of Edinburgh, 58, responded to Charlotte's question of how long it would be by saying, “I think it's now.”
This interpretation challenged the assumption that Sophie had reprimanded the young princess.
Observant viewers noted that Princess Charlotte seemed to be enjoying herself with King Charles, who playfully tickled her during what appeared to be a pleasant exchange.
It appears that the interaction between Sophie and Charlotte may have been less severe than initially perceived.
While Princess Charlotte captured attention with this moment, Prince Louis also made an impression during Trooping the Colour.
He entertained the crowd by saluting during the RAF Flypass and even mimicked an airplane, stealing the show.
