The Markled Effect: Meghan Markle’s Alleged Fallouts with Close Friends
Meghan Markle has garnered a reputation for distancing herself from friends, such as Jessica Mulroney, David and Victoria Beckham, and former co-stars from the show Suits.
Interestingly, a new term, “Markled,” has surfaced in the Urban Dictionary.
It refers to the act of cutting ties with someone after they have made significant contributions to your life.
Unfortunately, this label has been applied rather harshly to Meghan.
One of the most notable instances of being “Markled” was her relationship with her father, Thomas, who faced public backlash for selling paparazzi pictures of himself leading up to Meghan's wedding.
Even stylist Jessica Mulroney, Meghan's once closest friend, whose children were part of the Sussexes' wedding party, has seemingly drifted away from Meghan.
This shift occurred after Jessica became embroiled in a racism controversy with a social media influencer in 2020, leading to a lack of public appearances together.
However, Jessica is not the only friend who has experienced a rift with Meghan.
Meghan's childhood best friend, Niniki Priddy, reportedly fell out with her over Meghan's treatment of her first husband, Trevor Engelson.
Niniki, who was the maid of honor at Meghan's first wedding in Jamaica in 2011, had been inseparable from Meghan since their early years at Hollywood's private Little Red Schoolhouse.
Their bond spanned over three decades, but they parted ways when Niniki disapproved of Meghan's handling of her breakup with Trevor.
Following her separation from Trevor, Meghan reportedly began dating celebrity chef Corey Vitiello in Toronto in 2014.
Niniki revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail in 2017 that her friendship with Meghan ended after a conversation with Trevor post-divorce, where she realized the dynamics had changed.
According to Niniki, Meghan's rise to fame altered her behavior, with a noticeable shift in how she interacted with friends and handled relationships.
Niniki described a change in Meghan's demeanor, noting that fame seemed to have influenced her priorities and interactions.
Meghan's perceived sense of entitlement and changing attitude led to a growing disconnect between them.
Despite attempts to address their friendship issues, Niniki felt sidelined by Meghan's evolving social circle and strategic approach to relationships.
Reflecting on her past with Meghan, Niniki concluded that Meghan appeared calculated and cold in her decisions to distance herself from certain individuals.
Once Meghan decides to cut ties, Niniki observed, there is no room for negotiation.
Meghan's alleged shutdown mechanism in relationships suggests a deliberate and strategic approach to curating her inner circle, leaving behind those she deems no longer fit into her life.
