Spotify Exec Blasts Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Over Podcast Controversy
Amidst the ongoing drama surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's podcast deal with Spotify, the streaming giant's Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization, Bill Simmons, has launched a scathing attack on the couple.
Referring to them as “grifters,” Simmons expressed his frustration at not being involved in the negotiation process, stating that their podcast should have been launched under his guidance.
The controversy began after Spotify canceled the Sussexes' estimated $25 million deal, citing a lack of content delivery from their podcast, Archetypes.
Simmons, who claims to have had a Zoom meeting with Prince Harry to discuss podcast ideas, expressed disappointment at the deal falling through, describing it as one of his best stories.
However, the criticism doesn't stop there.
Meghan Markle is now facing accusations of faking interviews for the podcast.
It is alleged that she recorded audio of herself asking questions, which were later edited into the final episodes.
While a former guest had previously praised the show's producer for being an excellent interviewer, a former staffer has come forward to defend the Duchess, denying any involvement in editing her in.
However, they did admit that producers occasionally conducted interviews, though not as the main interviewer.
Adding fuel to the fire, Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, also voiced her opinion on Prince Harry.
