Simon Brodkin’s Brutal Roast of Meghan and Harry at Stand-Up Gig: A Royal Fallout
In a recent stand-up comedy show, renowned UK comedian Simon Brodkin launched a scathing attack on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
This incident occurred just weeks after Brodkin had performed for Prince William and Princess Kate at the Royal Variety Performance.
The comedian uploaded footage of his show onto X, sparking controversy and heated debates.
Brodkin, previously known for his stage name Lee Nelson, used his live performance to mockingly state that Harry and Meghan “pulled the pin on the fun grenade” at a Halloween party.
He found their choice of words cringeworthy, to the extent that he jokingly expressed support for Prince Andrew.
It is worth noting that Prince Andrew had stepped back from royal duties in November 2019 due to the scandal surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
“I started off wanting to like them,” Brodkin admitted.
“They were addressing important issues such as discrimination and misogyny.
But then they began referring to each other as H&M, and I just thought, ‘Oh, do get lost.'
By the time Harry described a date with Meghan as the night they ‘pulled the pin on a fun grenade,' I actually found myself rooting for Prince Andrew.
At least Andrew respects the monarchy, something Meghan fails to do or understand.
Andrew made a significant mistake but must now live with the consequences and has given up a respected life.
Harry and Meghan, on the other hand, seem incapable of giving everyone a break and earning some respect.”
A clip of Brodkin's remarks went viral on TikTok, garnering 330,000 views and 16,000 likes.
The specific date referenced by Brodkin was a Halloween party the night before Harry and Meghan's relationship became public, as depicted in their December 2022 Netflix series, “Harry and Meghan.”
During the show, Harry reminisced, “We went to this Halloween party together where we could be completely dressed up and no one would know.
I had a bandana and goggles.”
Meghan chimed in, “You borrowed a great costume, and we were like, ‘Well, this might be our last shot to just go out and have fun out in the world.'
We pulled the pin on the fun grenade, which we did,” Harry added.
Critics have since lambasted Brodkin's remarks, particularly those who staunchly defend the Sussexes.
Meghan's fans expressed outrage over the comedian's jokes and voiced their disapproval on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, Royal Watchers have weighed in on what appears to be a pivotal year for the Sussex brand.
Ironically, some Harry and Meghan fans have expressed frustration with others profiting from their idols.
However, it is worth noting that Harry and Meghan themselves have leveraged their royal status to generate income for years, rather than pursuing traditional employment.
As the fallout from Brodkin's comedy routine continues, it remains to be seen how this incident will impact the public perception of Harry and Meghan.
With the couple embarking on a new chapter outside the confines of the royal family, 2023 promises to be a make or break year for Brands Sussex.
