Sarah Ferguson’s Support Keeps Prince Andrew at Royal Lodge
Sarah Ferguson has played a crucial role in maintaining the presence of Prince Andrew at Royal Lodge, as he shows no signs of leaving.
Despite their divorce in the 1990s, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have remained close friends.
Sarah Ferguson's contribution to the repairs at Royal Lodge has been pivotal in allowing Prince Andrew to continue residing at his home in Windsor Great Park.
Back in 2003, the Duke of York signed a 75-year lease for the property, making him responsible for its upkeep.
Consequently, he has had to scale back his public duties as a member of the royal family, with ongoing speculation surrounding his financial affairs.
With Prince Andrew unlikely to return to royal duties anytime soon and the necessary repairs at Royal Lodge falling behind schedule, Sarah Ferguson's assistance has been a lifeline for him.
According to a source, Sarah's willingness to support Andrew financially and aid in the restoration of Royal Lodge played a significant role in the King's decision to allow them to remain on the property.
The insider revealed that Andrew has managed to retain his beloved estate thus far due to Sarah's offer to provide financial support.
Prince Andrew has already invested substantial sums in renovating Royal Lodge, including exterior painting and roof repairs.
As per the source, the external paintwork is scheduled for inspection once the weather improves, typically every five years.
This year, in addition to roof repairs completed last summer, attention will be given to painting and windows.
Andrew is committed to fulfilling the conditions of his lease, with plans to have everything up to date by the end of the summer.
Preparations for the renovations are already underway, with scaffolding and skips in place, and construction commencing this week as part of a planned project.
Previous reports indicated that King Charles was adamant about Prince Andrew vacating Royal Lodge and relocating to Frogmore Cottage, previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
However, the Duke of York is reportedly reluctant to make the move, considering it a significant downgrade from his current residence.
While Frogmore Cottage is occasionally used by the Yorks for visits from Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their children, there are no plans for permanent residence there.
Despite not actively working as senior royals, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have attended important royal events in the past, often accompanying the late Queen.
They were recently seen at a garden party supporting the Prince of Wales, as Emily Nash, royal editor of Hello!
magazine, explained that the sisters might make appearances at other events over the summer as members of the royal family.
