Sarah Ferguson Shares Update on Queen’s Dogs Following Her Majesty’s Death
In a heartwarming gesture, Sarah Ferguson has provided an update on the Queen's beloved dogs, Mark and Sandy, after they moved in with her and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew.
Many royal enthusiasts had expressed concern about the fate of the dogs following the monarch's passing.
However, Fergie, as she is affectionately known, has reassured fans that the pups are in good hands.
During the Queen's funeral at Windsor Castle, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson paid their respects to the late monarch, who was renowned for her love of corgis.
The couple confirmed that they would take on the responsibility of caring for the dogs after the Queen's death.
Now, Fergie is giving us a glimpse into her pet-filled family life as she and Andrew share the joy of looking after the dogs, according to The Telegraph.
Speaking at the Henley Literary Festival, Fergie expressed her gratitude for having the honor of caring for the Queen's pets.
She referred to them as national treasures and assured everyone that they have been well-trained.
In addition to Mark and Sandy, Andrew and Fergie also have five Norfolk Terriers at their shared home in the Royal Lodge, Windsor.
Fergie humorously mentioned that the dogs bring a lively energy to their household, stating, “The carpet moves as I move, but we've gotten used to it now.”
Throughout her remarkable 70-year reign, the Queen owned more than 30 corgis, starting with Susan, who was given to her as a gift on her 18th birthday.
Muck, another corgi, was a gift from Prince Andrew and their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, to keep the Queen company when Prince Philip was in the hospital.
Later, on what would have been Philip's 100th birthday, the Duke of York presented Sandy to Her Majesty.
These loyal companions have brought immense joy to the Queen's life.
Following the Queen's passing, Prince William assured mourners that the corgis would be well taken care of.
He mentioned that they are friendly and have found a loving home.
Prince Andrew, in particular, has shown great affection towards the dogs and was seen comforting them during the Queen's funeral on September 19th.
Photographs captured Andrew tenderly petting the Welsh corgis as they stood guard at Windsor Castle after the funeral mass.
Fergie also attended the funeral, joining other members of the royal family, including Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, King Charles III, Camilla, Queen Consort, Prince Anne, Prince Edward, and more.
On September 8th, Fergie took to Twitter to honor the Queen, expressing her heartbreak over Her Majesty's passing.
She praised the Queen for her extraordinary legacy, unwavering dedication, and steadfast presence as Head of State for over seven decades.
Fergie also expressed her gratitude for the Queen's continued support and friendship even after her divorce.
Notably, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, paid tribute to his mother on September 18th.
In a heartfelt statement, he addressed the Queen as “Dear Mummy, Mother, Your Majesty,” acknowledging her as a figure of great significance.
He commended her unparalleled devotion and personal service to the nation, acknowledging the love and respect shown by the people in various ways.
Prince Andrew assured the Queen that her legacy would be honored with the utmost respect.
