Royals’ Supermarket Shopping Habits Revealed
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has once again been spotted in a supermarket aisle, sparking curiosity about whether the royal family does their own grocery shopping.
This is not the first time she has been seen shopping for groceries, as she was previously photographed at Waitrose in Anglesey a week after her wedding to Prince William in 2011, and later at Tesco in North Wales that same year.
According to Marlene Koenig, a royal expert and founder of the Royal Musings blog, it is unlikely that we will see senior members of the royal family, such as the Queen, Prince Charles, or the Duchess of Cornwall, frequenting their local grocery stores.
She explains that their household staff takes care of their shopping, and most items are likely delivered to their respective homes.
However, it appears that the younger royals, like Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, may occasionally do their own grocery shopping.
Koenig believes that while Kate may have a small household staff at Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall, she takes a more active role in deciding what her family eats, given her background in the non-royal world.
Despite being a potential regular shopper, the Duchess keeps her public appearances at supermarkets to a minimum due to security reasons.
Koenig suggests that she likely prefers to maintain a low profile during these outings.
On the other hand, Prince Harry, who has been known to cover up with a baseball cap, revealed last year that he does all of his own grocery shopping.
He expressed his desire to lead a relatively normal life, even if he were to become king.
As for Meghan Markle, who recently married Prince Harry, she was reportedly spotted at a supermarket near Kensington Palace during her early visits to the prince.
Koenig speculates that she may continue to visit grocery stores from time to time, even after her wedding.
Non-working royals, like Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, who do not participate in official engagements, are likely to have been regular visitors to grocery stores.
Koenig suggests that the royal sisters probably did all of their own shopping while living in New York City, where Beatrice currently resides.
In conclusion, while it is not common for senior members of the royal family to do their own grocery shopping, the younger generation seems to take a more hands-on approach when it comes to choosing what they eat.
Despite security concerns, occasional supermarket sightings of the royals are not entirely surprising.
