Royal Family’s Summer Escapes: From Cornish Beaches to Balmoral Castle
In line with the rest of the nation, the Royal Family relishes the opportunity to escape their usual surroundings in search of stunning scenery and balmy weather during the summer.
Every August, members of the British Royal Family leave their stately abodes behind in exchange for some quality time both inside and outside of the UK.
This year, their summer adventures begin with a visit to the Isles of Sicily, located 28 miles off the Cornish coastline.
Affectionately known as the Cornish Caribbean, these islands boast some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK.
Among them, the island of Tresco stands out, with its idyllic beaches and breathtaking view of the blue sea.
It is no wonder that this island has long had the royal seal of approval.
One particular spot on Tresco, Dolphin House, has become a favorite staycation destination for the royal members, especially the royal children.
In 2020, they were spotted going for a bike ride around the car-free island, enjoying the company of residents and immersing themselves in the serene atmosphere.
However, the most significant part of the royal summer holiday tradition takes place at Balmoral.
The Royal Family will continue to spend at least part of their summer holiday at Balmoral Castle, a place deeply cherished by the late Queen Mother.
This year, however, the stay at the 50,000-acre estate in Aberdeenshire is expected to be shorter than in previous years.
For Meghan and Harry's children, Lilibet and Archie, this is a missed opportunity to participate in the memorable summer vacation of the British Royal Family.
They are unable to enjoy the wonderful childhood experiences with cousins their own age.
Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to America, the Sussex kids have had limited opportunities to bond with their older cousins, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
According to an insider, Harry wants his children to spend more time with the Royal Family, but he will only bring them to the UK when it is safe to do so.
The source revealed that Harry and Meghan robbed their children of the chance to know their cousins, highlighting the complexities of their transatlantic move.
While the King plans to continue his mother's tradition of gathering the Royal Family at Balmoral over the summer, the family's stay this year may be shorter due to ongoing renovations.
The grounds, gardens, and exhibitions of Balmoral Castle, currently being redecorated by one of the King's friends, will remain open to the public until mid-August, leaving a narrower window for the family to reside.
A royal source has stated that the family is expected to spend time together at Balmoral during the summer, although specific arrangements are still being organized.
It is understood that at least some members of the family will stay at the castle, preserving its status as a holiday hideaway for now.
Previously, the King had expressed interest in transforming Balmoral into a museum dedicated to his mother's memory.
However, for the time being, the Royal Family intends to continue using the castle as a private retreat.
Typically, the family would stagger their visits to Balmoral, but this year, due to the extended public access until August 16th, the Royal Family is unlikely to move into the castle until the following week.
