Royal Family Faces Demands for Apology from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Before King’s Coronation
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly seeking an apology from the Royal Family before attending the coronation of King Charles.
According to news reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are requesting a sit-down meeting with senior members of the Royal Family following the release of their explosive Netflix documentary.
The couple wants the firm to take responsibility for the pain and damage they believe they have endured.
The Times has reported that a source close to the self-exiled royal couple insists that this meeting should take place prior to King Charles' coronation in May.
Additionally, Meghan and Harry want this face-to-face encounter to address the claims they raised in their 88 million dollar Netflix series.
The couple is particularly upset about the palace's involvement in a recent reconciliation meeting between Ngozi Fulon, a charity boss, and Lady Susan Hussey, a former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth.
This meeting occurred after Lady Hussey made offensive comments about Fulan's heritage, causing a race row within the palace.
During this meeting, Lady Hussey apologized sincerely to Ms. Fulan, who accepted the gesture.
However, the Sussexes perceive this as a double standard, as they feel the palace has not adequately responded to their own allegations, which were extensively explored in their controversial six-episode docu-series.
The source close to the couple expressed their frustration, stating that no meeting, formal apology, or accountability was ever offered when Harry and Meghan raised their concerns.
They find this hard to accept and are eager for a meeting to take place.
In the final three episodes of the documentary, Harry admitted that he does not expect genuine accountability or a sincere apology from his brother William or his father King Charles.
Both William and King Charles have chosen not to comment on the docu-series, instead focusing on maintaining unity within the family.
It is understood that senior royals have no intention of arranging a meeting with the couple either.
A senior palace source emphasized, “If they want to get in touch with the king, they know where he lives.”
When confronted with Harry's criticism of the monarchy, a royal courtier simply stated that Harry has made his decision, and the palace has made theirs.
The courtier further explained that the palace's deliberate silence is a message in itself, as their duty is to proceed with their responsibilities without responding to every criticism.
Even Gayle King, a close friend of the Sussexes and a renowned TV news anchor, supported the palace's approach to the documentary, suggesting that having no comment would be the appropriate course of action.
While the palace has chosen to remain silent, many commentators, royal enthusiasts, and the general public have expressed their opinions regarding the allegations made in the series.
Although some believe this will be the last of Harry's public outbursts against his family, it is worth noting that his forthcoming book is set to be released in early 2023.
Despite the couple's claims, senior members of the royal family continue to carry on with their duties as usual.
Prince William, along with his wife Kate and their three children, is scheduled to attend a carol concert in the lead-up to Christmas.
