Rory McIlroy and Meghan Markle: A Rumored Romance
Irish golfer Rory McIlroy was once rumored to be romantically involved with Meghan Markle, according to author Emily Herbert in her new book, “Harry and Meghan, The Love Story.”
It was reported that the two had grown close around 2014, and there is evidence on social media to support this claim.
During the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in 2014, McIlroy nominated Markle to participate.
She accepted the challenge, and in a video posted on her Instagram account, McIlroy poured a bucket of ice water over her head.
This playful interaction further fueled speculation about their relationship.
In the same year, McIlroy took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge himself, making several press stops with Tiger Woods.
In a surprising move, he challenged not only George W. Bush and Wayne Rooney but also Markle, who was then appearing on the USA Network show “Suits.”
Markle accepted the challenge and had McIlroy dump the ice bucket over her head in a video shared on her Twitter feed.
She then nominated Serena Williams to take on the challenge.
Despite being spotted enjoying dinner together in Dublin, McIlroy and Markle confirmed that they were just friends.
At the time, rumors of a blossoming romance circulated due to their frequent outings.
However, it has since been learned that Markle has been in a relationship with a Canadian chef for several months, although they have kept their love life out of the public eye.
Her beau even flew to Ireland to be with her during her work with One Young World, and they were seen affectionate behind the scenes.
While McIlroy prefers to keep his personal life private, Markle seems smitten with her culinary love.
An insider revealed that her Canadian chef partner flew to Dublin to spend time with her, and the two were inseparable during their stay in Ireland.
McIlroy returned home, but it was merely a coincidence that they happened to be in the same place at the same time.
Since ending his engagement to tennis player Caroline Vosniaki in May, McIlroy has been linked to Irish models Sasha Gale and Nadia Ford, but he has not commented on any romance reports.
It is worth noting that McIlroy has strong ties to Ireland, as he purchased a house in his native Hollywood, County Down, and spends a considerable amount of time there.
In fact, news of his recent purchase comes just two years after he sold his former Northern Ireland home for £2 million.
The property boasted five bedrooms, a gymnasium, and even a golf practice area with a putting green and driving range, which perfectly suited the sports star.
As for Markle, her romantic history includes a marriage to producer Trevor Engelson, which ended on bad terms.
Allegedly, she sent him their wedding rings by post just 18 months after their wedding, signifying the end of their relationship.
Before finding love with Prince Harry, Markle also spent time with Canadian hockey star Michael Del Zotto.
With all these exes and rumored romances, one can't help but wonder about the complexities of Markle's love life.
However, it seems that her current focus is on her relationship with Prince Harry, leaving the rumors of her past flings and connections with McIlroy behind.
