Rishi Sunak’s Stance on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Revealed during TalkTV Interview
Piers Morgan, in his latest TalkTV interview on Thursday evening, didn't hold back from asking Rishi Sunak about his views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
During the hour-long conversation, Morgan probed Sunak on whether King Charles III should invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to his coronation later this year.
As the Prime Minister searched for a response, he found himself floundering.
Sunak, with a hint of expectation, replied, “I had a feeling you might ask me that.
You know I can't talk about the Royal Family, but what I can say is one of the great privileges of this job is spending time with the monarch, and also championing what is an amazing British institution all around the world.”
He continued by expressing his pride in promoting and celebrating British institutions such as the Royal Family during his travels.
“There's an enormous amount of affection for the Royal Family everywhere I go around the world, and they do an incredible job.
King Charles does an incredible job,” added the Prime Minister, while Morgan, a self-proclaimed Royalist, listened intently.
Morgan, known for his outspokenness on matters concerning Harry and Meghan, couldn't resist making a quip.
“You don't mind if you're next to Meghan and Harry,” he said.
Sunak skillfully avoided the question and redirected the conversation, stating, “What I'm focused on is making sure we have a great time as a country, and that is what I'm confident is going to happen.”
The highly anticipated coronation of King Charles is scheduled to take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.
During the ceremony, he will be crowned alongside Queen Consort Camilla.
However, it was reported last month that Harry declined to commit to attending the coronation.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made headlines in 2020 when they stepped down from their roles as Senior Royals, opting for a new life in California.
