Queen Elizabeth’s Deep Grief Revealed as Prince Andrew Speaks Out
Prince Andrew opened up about his mother, Queen Elizabeth's, personal feelings in a public appearance following a church service held in honor of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who peacefully passed away on Friday morning.
The Duke of York attended the Sunday service at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor, accompanied by his brother, Prince Edward, and the Countess of Wessex, along with their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor.
During a conversation with reporters and well-wishers after the prayer service, Prince Andrew shared that the Queen described the loss of her beloved husband as creating an immense void in her life.
He stated, “The Queen, as you could expect, is an incredibly stoic person, and she described his passing as a miracle and she is contemplating, is the way I would put it.
She described it as having a huge void in her life but we, the family, the ones who are closer, are rallying round to make sure that we are there to support her and I know there is a huge amount of support not just for her but for everybody as we go through this enormous change.”
Prince Andrew also expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming tributes received and paid tribute to his father.
He acknowledged the extraordinary circumstances surrounding Prince Philip's passing at the age of 99 during the pandemic, stating that it felt as though the family was experiencing the same loss as many others around the world who have lost loved ones to Covid-19.
He said, “It's a terrible loss.
My father said to me on the phone, a few months ago, we were all in the same boat and we must always remember that but occasionally we, in the family, are asked to stand up and show compassion and leadership and unfortunately with my father's death it has brought it home to me, not just our loss but the loss that everybody else has felt for so many people who have died and lost loved ones during the pandemic and so we are all in the same boat, slightly different circumstances, because he didn't die from Covid but we are all feeling a great sense of loss.”
Prince Andrew expressed his deep admiration for his late father, describing him as a remarkable man.
He fondly remembered Prince Philip's calm nature and his ability to listen and offer guidance.
He emphasized the significance of the Duke of Edinburgh's role as a grandfather figure to the nation and expressed his sympathy and support for his mother, who is undoubtedly feeling the loss more profoundly than anyone else.
Earlier in the day, Prince Andrew attended a service alongside Prince Edward, who was accompanied by his wife, Sophie Wessex, and their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor.
A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace shared that the members of the royal family spoke with the congregation and individuals working on the Windsor estate to express their gratitude for the support received during this challenging time.
The nation continues to mourn the loss of Prince Philip, and the outpouring of tributes has deeply touched the royal family.
Prince Andrew expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming messages and gestures of sympathy they have received.
As they navigate through this period of grief, the family remains united and determined to support Queen Elizabeth during this difficult time.
