Queen Elizabeth II’s Personal Jewellery Collection: Who Will Inherit Her Treasures?
The passing of Queen Elizabeth II has left many royal fans wondering about the fate of her extensive personal jewellery collection.
According to Metro UK, the late monarch was laid to rest wearing her wedding band and pearl earrings.
However, it is reported that she owned over 300 pieces of jewellery, including 34 pairs of earrings, 15 rings, and 98 brooches, as stated by the Daily Mail.
When not adorning herself with a specific piece, the Queen stored her precious jewels in the Queen's gallery at Buckingham Palace.
Now, speculations arise as to who will inherit the majority of her possessions.
Majesty Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Ingrid Stewart, revealed to the Daily Mail that the Queen had carefully decided years before her passing, at the age of 96, who would receive which items.
It is believed that Queen Consort Camilla and the new Princess of Wales, Catherine, will be the primary recipients.
Ingrid Stewart further explained that Camilla, assuming her constitutional role, would require a substantial collection to support her position.
However, there are other female members of the royal family who may also be contenders for some pieces, including Princess Anne, the Queen's daughter.
In fact, Princess Anne was recently seen wearing a necklace that held great sentimental value to her late mother.
The necklace in question is a three-strand pearl necklace that was gifted to Queen Elizabeth II by her father, King George VI.
Princess Anne was spotted wearing this exquisite piece during an appearance at the English-speaking Union in New York.
The necklace symbolizes the close bond between the Queen and her father, who passed away in 1952.
It is a touching tribute to their relationship.
Notably, the Queen cherished the three-strand pearl necklace so much that she had an identical one made for herself in 1953.
Later, in her collection, a third three-strand pearl necklace was added as a gift from the Emir of Qatar.
The only difference among the three was that this version featured a diamond clasp, as revealed by jeweller David Douglas to The List.
Princess Anne is not the only member of the royal family who has had the privilege of wearing Queen Elizabeth II's pearls.
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has also been seen donning one of the late Queen's three-strand pearl necklaces during a lunch reception at Buckingham Palace.
The Palace confirmed that Catherine was wearing pearls from Her Majesty's collection, believed to have been gifted to her by the Queen.
Since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Catherine has paid homage to her late mother-in-law by wearing her jewellery on various occasions.
One notable instance was during the Queen's Coffin Procession, where she wore a brooch previously worn by the Queen during a visit to Seoul in 1999.
As the world mourns the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, attention turns to the fate of her personal jewellery collection.
