Priyanka Chopra Ends Friendship with Meghan Markle over Wedding Snub
Actress Priyanka Chopra has reportedly called an end to her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, after discovering that Markle had used her for ulterior motives.
According to reports from Page Six.com, Chopra was upset when Markle skipped her wedding to singer Nick Jonas, leading her to bail on Markle's star-studded baby shower in New York.
The two actresses were previously close friends, with Chopra even attending Markle's wedding to Prince Harry in May of last year.
However, when it came time for Chopra's own nuptials to Jonas in December, Markle declined the invitation.
This left Chopra feeling crushed and hurt, according to a source.
Last week, Markle's baby shower took place at the Mark Hotel, co-hosted by Serena Williams and Amal Clooney, with notable attendees such as Gayle King.
While it was reported that Chopra couldn't attend due to prior commitments related to a book she is writing, sources suggest that the real reason was the pain caused by Markle's absence at her wedding.
An insider told Us Weekly that Markle's decision not to attend Chopra's wedding was due to her pregnancy.
This incident has seemingly ended their friendship, with the source stating that unless Markle apologizes, their relationship is over.
It is worth noting that Chopra is an international star with a massive social media following, making her potentially more famous worldwide than Markle.
In other news, a recent exclusive poll indicates that the majority of British people believe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should not participate in the upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Queen has reportedly invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join the family celebrations for her historic 70th year on the throne, which will take place during a long bank holiday weekend in June.
If they choose to attend, Harry and Meghan would be allowed to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside other members of the royal family.
They would also be able to attend the service of Thanksgiving for the Queen's Reign at St Paul's Cathedral.
However, as they are no longer full-time working members of the royal family, they would not be permitted to play an active role in the events, including participating in the Trooping the Colour parade.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding their attendance, a survey conducted by Techne UK reveals that the majority of Britons would prefer the Sussexes to stay away from the Jubilee celebrations.
When asked if Prince Harry and Meghan should refrain from participating, 74% of respondents answered yes, while only 16% said no, and 10% were unsure.
The poll, which took place between April 20 and 21, included 1,624 British voters.
When analyzing the results by age group, it becomes apparent that even across different generations, people are against the Sussexes' involvement in the historic celebrations.
Among those aged 18 to 34, 66% voted in favor of them staying away, compared to 18% who disagreed.
Similarly, people aged 35 to 44, 45 to 54, and 55 to 64 showed percentages of 73%, 73%, and 77% respectively, in favor of their absence.
During an interview with Hoda Kotb, host of NBC's Today, Prince Harry briefly discussed the possibility of returning to the UK in two months' time.
When asked about joining his relatives for the Platinum Jubilee, he responded, “I don't know yet.
There's lots of things with security issues and everything else.
So, this is what I'm trying to do, trying to make it possible that I can get my kids to meet her.”
The last time Queen Elizabeth II saw Archie Harrison, the Sussexes' son, in person is unknown.
However, the young boy left the UK with his parents for a vacation in Canada in mid-November 2019 and has not returned to Britain since.
