By consolidating all necessary services in one location, the unit aims to provide a family-focused experience and accommodate up to 2,300 more youngsters annually.

Equipped with two state-of-the-art operating rooms, the Children’s Day Surgery Unit will offer a comprehensive one-day service.

This includes pre-surgery examinations, the procedure itself, and rehabilitation, all within a specially designed area.

Families will particularly benefit from this streamlined approach.

During her visit, Kate received a tour of the new unit, which was designed to emulate a child’s journey on the day of surgery.

She also had the opportunity to meet young patients who had undergone surgery at the hospital and hear firsthand accounts from their families and colleagues.

The Primary Children’s Hospital building at Evelina London features a natural world concept, evident in the space-themed artwork created in collaboration with staff and patients.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Princess Kate engaged in conversation with Ella and Khloé, two young children.

She was delighted to view their artwork, which was proudly displayed for her.

Later in the tour, Kate was given a pair of scissors to cut the ribbon and officially launch the new unit.
