Princess Charlotte Set to Inherit Prestigious Royal Title
Princess Charlotte, the daughter of Prince William and Duchess Kate, will receive a special royal title once her father ascends to the throne.
Currently known as Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, the young princess already holds an impressive title.
However, her status is expected to become even more majestic when Prince William becomes king.
According to the Mirror, Princess Charlotte is set to be bestowed with the title of Princess Royal.
The title of Princess Royal has traditionally been given to the eldest daughter of the monarch.
It was introduced in the 1600s to mirror the French royal title of Madame Royale.
The current Princess Royal is Princess Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, who was granted the title in 1987.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe explained that this title is held for life, meaning Princess Charlotte will have to wait until the death of the current Princess Royal to assume the prestigious role.
It is interesting to note that Queen Elizabeth herself was never known as the Princess Royal.
This is because her aunt, Princess Mary, held the title during her lifetime.
As a result, Queen Elizabeth was referred to as Princess Elizabeth before ascending to the throne.
Similarly, despite being a member of the royal family, Princess Charlotte is known by a different name, Charlotte Cambridge, while attending Thomas School in Battersea.
This naming convention follows the historical tradition of using the father's titles as surnames.
Her older brother, Prince George, is also known as George Cambridge at the school, and once he starts studying, Prince Louis will go by Louis Cambridge.
This practice of adopting the father's title as a surname was also followed by Princess Charlotte's father, Prince William, and her uncle, Prince Harry.
Both princes used the surname “Wales” while in school and in the military, reflecting their father's title as the Prince of Wales.
Furthermore, when Prince Charles ascends to the throne, Prince William and Duchess Kate may also see a change in their titles.
Currently known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William would inherit his father's title of the Prince of Wales.
In other news, there have been reports of a potential reconciliation between Prince William and Prince Harry.
According to Mr. Sean, a reliable source, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is eager for Harry to be invited to her and William's joint birthday party.
However, Meghan's inclusion in the invitation was not mentioned.
Kate hopes that this gesture will help mend the relationship between the brothers.
She believes that celebrating birthdays is a time for family and loved ones to come together, fostering a stronger bond.
Express.co.uk conducted a poll asking readers whether they believed Harry and Meghan should be invited to the joint party.
Out of the 8,072 respondents, a vast majority of 89% (7,160 people) answered no, stating that Harry and Meghan should not receive an invitation.
Meanwhile, 10% (810 people) expressed that they should be invited, and only 1% (112 people) remained undecided.
As the royal family continues to navigate through various changes and dynamics, the anticipation surrounding Princess Charlotte's future role and the potential reconciliation between the brothers remains high.
