In a surprise visit to meet skin scientists, Beatrice expressed her excitement following her first public appearance of 2023.

She visited London's Blizzard Institute at Queen Mary University of London to witness firsthand the efforts scientists are making to combat the rising numbers of skin cancer cases in the UK.

Expressing her support for the foundation, Beatrice stated, “I am so pleased to be able to support the work of the British Skin Foundation.

I have admired their research and efforts for many years, and they have made a significant impact on countless individuals.

I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with them and learn more about their groundbreaking endeavors.”

During her visit, donned a lab coat and explored the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research alongside British Skin Foundation CEO Matthew Patey.

The organization considers Beatrice's involvement as a major achievement.

Patey remarked, “We warmly welcome HRH Princess Beatrice as our new patron.

Sixty percent of the British population currently suffers from or has suffered from a skin disease or skin cancer, with many enduring lifelong physical or emotional effects.

Princess Beatrice's support will bring invaluable attention to the important work we do in alleviating this suffering.”

The charity shared images of Beatrice during her visit and captioned them, “We are delighted to announce HRH Princess Beatrice as our new patron.”

Her role as patron involves actively engaging in efforts to combat the rising rates of skin cancer in the UK.

According to the charity's website, skin cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in the country, with over 100,000 new cases diagnosed each year.

Tragically, it claims the lives of over 2,500 individuals annually, averaging seven deaths per day.
