Princess Anne’s Visit to Sri Lanka: A Message to Harry and Meghan?

Princess Anne, known for her no-nonsense approach, may have sent a subtle message to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during her recent visit to Sri Lanka.

The Princess Royal arrived in the country for a two-day royal visit, where she was seen carrying her own bags as she disembarked the plane.

Sporting a pair of retro Adidas sunglasses, Anne exuded effortless coolness alongside her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence, as they landed at Bandranike International Airport in Katinuyak.

As one of the hardest working royals, Anne took on this overseas visit at the request of the Foreign Office, marking the first such visit of 2024.

The palace confirmed that she would engage in various engagements and meet with local communities and faith groups in Colombo, the capital city.

Additionally, she planned to visit Kandy in central Sri Lanka and Jaffna in the northern part of the country.

Accompanying Anne on this visit was Andrew Patrick, the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.

Alongside a photo of the couple boarding the plane, the airline expressed their delight in welcoming Her Royal Highness and the delegation.

They also highlighted the significance of the visit, which commemorated 75 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the UK.

This visit marked Anne's second trip to Sri Lanka, with her first occurring in 1995.

On that occasion, she visited projects supported by Save the Children, a charity she has been involved with for over 50 years.

The royal family has a history of visiting Sri Lanka, including King Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In contrast to the entourage often accompanying Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Anne's self-sufficiency stood out.

A royal commentator noted the difference between the two couples, highlighting their contrasting outlooks, temperaments, and attitudes towards work.
