Princess Anne’s Husband, Sir Tim, Steps in with Witty Speech at Royal Hospital Chelsea’s Founders Day

Retired Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence made a memorable appearance at Founders Day, the highly anticipated event on the Royal Hospital Chelsea's calendar.

The occasion, which is regularly attended by members of the Royal Family, saw Sir Tim filling in for his wife, .

In a rare public speech, he entertained the attendees with a humorous football metaphor, comparing his role to that of Mrs Harry Kane leading the England football team or taking a penalty for the country.

With a touch of self-deprecating humor, Sir Tim admitted that he may not be as well-known as Mrs Kane and her football expertise.

However, he assured the audience that he would do his best to fulfill his wife's duties.

Drawing laughter from the crowd, he quipped, “I don't know Mrs Kane, and for all I know she may well have a very strong right foot, but in any case, I'm sure she'd do her best, and so will I.”

Sir Tim then revealed a surprising connection with the England captain, confessing his support for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Aware of the potential clash of loyalties in Chelsea, he humorously mentioned needing an escort when leaving the event.

His lighthearted and relatable speech resonated not only with the attendees but also with Royal Watchers Online.

Royal expert Victoria Arbiter took to Twitter to praise Sir Tim's dry wit, referring to him as “Mr aka Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence.”

She commended his great sense of humor, highlighting the delight it brought to the occasion.

Twitter users echoed this sentiment, noting that Sir Tim shares his wife's knack for wit and charm.
