Princess Anne’s Dedication to the Throne Sparks Concerns for King Charles’ Slimmed-Down Monarchy
Princess Anne, known for her unwavering loyalty to the throne, has been praised by a royal expert.
However, concerns have been raised about King Charles' plans for a slimmed-down monarchy in the long run.
It is believed that Princess Anne, who puts in a tremendous amount of effort, is unlikely to retire.
In 2023, the Princess Royal completed a remarkable total of 457 engagements, making her the hardest-working royal of all time.
King Charles followed closely behind with 425 engagements, while Prince Edward ranked third with 297.
This is not the first time Princess Anne has topped the list; she achieved the same feat in 2022.
On the other hand, as Prince of Wales in 2019 and 2020, King Charles had the highest number of royal engagements.
Express.co.uk had an exclusive interview with royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams, who commended Princess Anne for her dedication to the monarchy.
He also expressed concern that King Charles may face difficulties due to his plans for a slimmed-down monarchy.
Fitzwilliams stated that Princess Anne's strong work ethic and aversion to drama make it highly unlikely for her to ever retire.
She has been admired and respected for many years.
Furthermore, Fitzwilliams emphasized the importance of the Walises' pull and glamour for the monarchy.
However, Princess Anne dislikes the hype that often accompanies their charitable ventures.
In 2023, Prince William attended 172 events, while Princess Kate attended 128, as the senior royals took on the majority of obligations.
Looking ahead, Fitzwilliams noted that there may be fewer royal engagements available until William and Kate's children reach adulthood.
Consequently, the number of engagements may need to be reduced in the future.
Currently, only four working royals are under 70, which presents a potential problem.
It is expected that the number of engagements will be cut until Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are able to actively participate in royal activities.
Since ascending to the throne last year, King Charles has expressed his desire for a more limited monarchy.
However, given the frequency of events and the average age of the firm, he has been cautioned about the possibility of burnout following the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2020.
