Princess Anne Honors Rugby Community’s Fundraising Efforts for Motor Neurone Disease
Princess Anne, the esteemed patron of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) association, recently attended a special reception to express her heartfelt gratitude to the Rugby League supporters.
The community had successfully raised an impressive sum of nearly 8.2 million pounds over the past four years.
The event took place at Leeds Rhinos' AMT Headingley Stadium, where Princess Anne donned a striking bright red jacket.
During the ceremony, Princess Anne engaged in meaningful conversations with attendees who had been inspired by former rugby player Robb Borough CBA and his teammate Kevin Sinfield CBA to volunteer and raise funds for the MND association.
Robb, who received a devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease in December 2019, has since dedicated himself to raising awareness and funds for those affected by this debilitating condition.
In recognition of their outstanding efforts, Prince William had previously visited the Leeds Stadium in January to honor Robb and Kevin for their contributions in raising awareness about Motor Neurone Disease.
Kevin, in particular, showcased remarkable physical feats, such as completing seven marathons in seven days, leading to over £15 million raised in support of the cause.
The collaborative fundraising initiatives spearheaded by various clubs, athletes, and supporters from both rugby codes have been instrumental in generating substantial contributions towards combating Motor Neurone Disease.
Upon Princess Anne's arrival at the ceremony, she was warmly welcomed by Tanya Curry, the chief executive of the MND association, who introduced her to the specially invited guests.
Following a stadium tour, Princess Anne joined the attendees for afternoon tea, where she engaged in conversations with MND fundraisers, including Robb Borough himself.
Notably, Princess Anne has been actively fulfilling royal duties in place of King Charles and the Princess of Wales during their absence due to illness.
Reflecting on the profound impact of Robb's journey and friendship with Kevin, Ms. Curry expressed gratitude towards the rugby community for their unwavering support in raising awareness and donations for the MND association.
The event served as a platform to convey sincere appreciation to all those who have contributed to the cause, bringing joy to the association and its beneficiaries.
In her upcoming engagements, Princess Anne, also known as the President of the Royal Yachting Association, is scheduled to visit the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club and inaugurate the new Donnelly Lines facilities at Al Minhad Air Base.
Additionally, she will participate in a panel discussion at the Women in Shipping and Trading Conference during her visit to the United Arab Emirates, as announced by Buckingham Palace.
