The Queen has entrusted her only daughter, , with the solemn duty of accompanying the funeral procession on a six-hour journey from Balmoral to Edinburgh, according to reports.

Despite her grief, the 72-year-old Princess Royal maintained a composed demeanor as she followed behind the hearse in a Royal Bentley, alongside her husband of three decades, Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence.

The Queen left nothing to chance in her funeral arrangements, personally requesting that her daughter accompany her coffin to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, as reported by the Daily Mail.

As embarked on her final journey with her mother, she took a moment to pay her respects.

The Queen's oak casket was transported on Sunday from Balmoral, where she passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, to the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Upon arrival, Princess Anne watched as the Royal Regiment of Scotland carried the coffin into the monarch's official residence in Scotland.

Dressed elegantly in black with her hair neatly styled, the Princess Royal displayed a stoic expression as she bowed her head and performed a deep curtsy, possibly her last one for her mother.

Throughout the entire six-hour trip to Edinburgh, Princess Anne and her husband remained in one of the cars following the Queen's hearse.

Prior to reaching Edinburgh, the procession passed through Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, Angus, and Tayside, allowing mourners in towns and villages along the way to gather and pay their respects.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Princess Anne will also accompany her mother's coffin to London tomorrow, as it is flown out of Scotland.

Their bond, forged from their shared upbringing and similar interests, has deepened over the years.

They have always enjoyed each other's company, sharing a sense of humor, a love for the countryside, and an affinity for all things Scottish.

However, as adults, Princess Anne has also embraced her older brother's constitutional responsibilities, along with her own duties.

Their relationship is reminiscent of the close bond between II and her younger sister, Princess Margaret.

Now, just as his mother once did, relies on his sister as an inexperienced monarch in need of a trusted confidante.

Neither Charles nor Anne would have wished to be the only siblings present at their mother's bedside when she passed away at Balmoral Castle.

Unfortunately, Andrew and Edward were unable to reach the castle in time.

This circumstance allowed Charles and Anne to briefly mourn together in private, further strengthening their unique connection.

Princess Anne assumed the title of Princess Royal in 1987, becoming the seventh individual to hold this esteemed position since it was first bestowed upon Princess Mary, daughter of Charles I, in 1642.

A testament to her elevated status within the royal hierarchy is her role in accompanying her mother's coffin from the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to London.

Princess Anne's tireless work ethic is well-known, having participated in 387 official engagements in 2017, two more than her older brother.

At 72 years old, she remains a pillar of support for King Charles's vision of a streamlined monarchy.

With over 20,000 official engagements and patronage of more than 300 charities and organizations, Princess Anne plays a vital role in the redistribution of 's 600-plus patronages.

As the Sovereign, King Charles must decide which patronages to pass on to senior members of the royal family and which ones to let lapse.

As the funeral procession continues, the nation watches with reverence and gratitude for the unwavering dedication of the Royal Family during this period of loss and transition.
