Prince William’s Climate Event in New York Could Heighten Family Tensions, Royal Expert Claims

's upcoming climate event in New York may exacerbate tensions within the royal family, according to royal expert Daniela Elzer.

As and plan their return to the UK, and with attending the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit on September 21, Elzer suggests that the Duke of Cambridge's own PR efforts mirror some of the Sussexes' plans in the United States.

Accompanied by billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, Prince William will be delivering keynote speeches on environmental issues and associating with American philanthropic powerhouses.

Elzer points out that this is precisely the territory that Harry and Meghan have been trying to establish as their own, albeit with limited success.

The timing of these events, combined with the anticipation surrounding 's new book, could potentially escalate tensions within the family.

Elzer suggests that William's New York climate event, coupled with his opportunities to showcase his statesman credentials, might further ignite family tensions.

It appears less like William unintentionally overshadowing his younger brother, and more like him deliberately encroaching on Harry's territory.

Coinciding with the Sussexes' visit to London and William's foray into the US market, along with the mystery surrounding Harry's book, it seems as though tensions are building up to a boiling point.

Speculation has also arisen regarding Prince William and attending the second Earthshot Awards in Boston in November, which could involve a broader tour of the US.

This solo trip by the Duke of Cambridge will be his first visit to the United States since Meghan and Prince Harry established their base in California last year.

The last time Prince William was in the country was during a three-day visit with his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, in 2014.

While the summit is scheduled for September 21, the duration of Prince William's stay in the US has not been disclosed.

Royal commentator Natalie O'Leary believes it is highly likely that Harry and Meghan will be accompanied by a camera crew during their upcoming visits to Germany and England.

O'Leary notes that this time around, the couple faces no restrictions imposed by the Royal Family on what they can film.

In contrast, rumors circulated that cameras were prohibited from covering Prince Harry and Meghan's visit during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June.

Official accreditation was not granted to the crews, and they were warned to leave if spotted near any royal events.

However, the upcoming visit to the UK and Germany is expected to be different, with no such restrictions imposed on the Sussexes.

O'Leary recalls that cameras were present when the couple attended the Invictus Games in The Hague, Netherlands, back in April.

Regarding their activities in early September, a spokesperson for the Sussexes stated that Prince Harry and Meghan are delighted to visit several charities close to their hearts.

Meghan will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the One Young World Summit, an event that brings together young leaders from over 190 countries.

Both Harry and Meghan will also meet with delegates working on gender equality.

As tensions continue to mount within the royal family, Prince William's climate event in New York serves as another potential flashpoint.

With Meghan and Prince Harry's impending UK visit and the mystery surrounding Harry's book, it remains uncertain how these events will unfold.

One thing is clear: the dynamics within the royal family are far from settled.
