Prince William Jokes About Rugby Match Loss as He and Catherine Visit Rehabilitation Centre
Following the England rugby team's victory over Wales in their Six Nations match on Saturday, Prince William made light of the fact that Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been giving him non-stop grief.
Prior to their return to South Wales for a royal visit yesterday, and in advance of St David's Day today, the royal couple saw the local team lose 20-10 in Cardiff over the weekend.
Prince William, who serves as the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, and his wife Catherine, who serves as the patron of the Rugby Football Union in England, made their way to the Brian O'Hare Recovery Centre for those struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
During their visit, the Prince was asked if he had enjoyed the game, to which he replied, “Not a lot.
We've been talking about it all weekend.”
He later shared with one of his hosts at the centre near Pontyclwyn, “I've been getting non-stop grief all weekend about that.”
The purpose of their visit to the centre was to witness the work being done to help people struggling with addiction issues.
The Brian O'Hare Rehabilitation Centre, which has been open for 40 years, offers a range of programmes, including specialist therapy courses, to improve clients' mental health.
To support the centre's efforts, the Royal Foundation, established by Prince William and Catherine in 2009, is funding six £20,000 therapy gardens and allotments.
This collaboration with British Airways and Social Enterprise, Life at No.
27, is part of a series of community impact pilot projects undertaken by the couple during their royal visits.
These therapy gardens and allotments aim to provide therapeutic spaces for individuals seeking recovery.
Later that day, the couple visited a leisure centre in Port Talbot, where they engaged in a friendly competition during a fixed bike spin class.
Catherine emerged victorious and was awarded a gold trophy, much to the amusement of Prince William.
He jokingly mentioned that he had been on the receiving end of non-stop grief from her about the rugby match all weekend.
This visit to Wales showcased not only the couple's friendly rivalry over the rugby match but also their commitment to supporting those struggling with addiction issues.
It exemplifies their dedication to using their platform to make a positive impact on communities.
During their previous visit to Cardiff's Principality Stadium, Prince William conversed with the Welsh players, while Catherine posed for pictures with the England team.
Catherine donned a red and white Catherine Walker houndstooth coat paired with a black turtleneck dress for the occasion.
