Lu Pu held a special place in Duchess Catherine's heart, as he was bred from her parents' own dog, Ella.

He was born in 2011 and given to the royal couple as a Christmas present that same year.

Lu Pu frequently appeared in photographs alongside the family and even inspired a children's book called “The Adventures of Lu Pu, the Royal Dog: The Secret of Windsor Castle” written by A.

spoke fondly of Lu Pu in his first official interview after the birth of Prince George, saying, “For me, Catherine, and now little George, they are my priorities.

James shared his own personal experience of losing his first dog, Tilly, in 2017 and how the news of Lu Pu's passing brought back a flood of emotions.

To honor Lu Pu's memory, James said he had prayed, lit a candle, and taken a long walk with Ella, his mother, to reminisce about their time with Lu Pu.

The arrival of the new puppy brings comfort and joy to the Cambridge family during this time of loss.
