Prince Louis Celebrates Third Birthday with New Photo

Prince Louis, the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, turns three today, April 23rd.

While Prince Louis holds the official title of His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge, it is worth noting that he only possesses an HRH title due to the intervention of his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen overruled a rule established by King George V in 1917, which outlined which royals were eligible for titles.

According to the rule, only the sovereign's children and grandchildren through the male line would receive prince or princess titles.

However, it did not include great-grandchildren.
