Prince Louis Absent from Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral
Prince George and Princess Charlotte, aged 9 and 7 respectively, attended their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral and even participated in the procession alongside their parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William.
However, their youngest brother, 4-year-old Prince Louis, was not present.
Kate and William made the decision for Louis not to attend, considering his young age and the solemn nature of the event.
While there is no official rule prohibiting children of a certain age from attending royal events, it is up to the parents to determine whether they are ready for such occasions.
It is worth noting that Louis also did not attend Prince Philip's funeral last year, making his absence at the recent funeral unsurprising.
Reports suggest that Louis may have struggled to comprehend the significance of his great-grandmother's passing and how it could impact the family.
Kate reportedly shared with Australia's Governor General, David Hurley, that Louis expressed concerns about whether the Queen's death would affect their plans to travel to Balmoral.
According to Mr. Hurley, Louis has been asking questions like, “Do you think we can still play these games when we go to Balmoral?
Because she's not going to be there.”
Kate also mentioned that their eldest child, Prince George, is beginning to understand the importance of his great-grandmother and the current situation.
The newly appointed Princess of Wales has recently made public appearances alongside her husband and other members of the royal family.
While speaking to the public outside Windsor Palace, she expressed her sadness upon learning the news of the Queen's passing.
She shared a heartwarming conversation she had with Louis, where he reassured her by saying, “Mummy, don't worry, because now Gangan is with great-grandpa.”
It is remarkable that a four-year-old can grasp the concept of loss so well.
The nickname “Gangan” for the Queen originated from Prince George and has been adopted by his younger siblings.
