Prince Harry’s Plea to King Charles: Heartbreaking Question about Grandchildren

In a new book by Royal biographer Omid Scobie titled “Endgame,” it has been revealed that made a heartfelt plea to his father, , regarding his grandchildren.

The book claims that Harry begged for the use of Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate whenever he and visit the UK.

Frogmore Cottage was a wedding gift from the late II to the Sussexes in 2018.

However, earlier this year, it was announced that the property would be taken away from them, and Harry and Meghan were asked to vacate it.

As a result, Harry and Meghan no longer have a home in the UK and must rely on hotels or the hospitality of friends whenever they visit.

The Sussexes' team received a letter from Sir Michael John Stevens, the keeper of the Privy Purse, stating that since they are no longer working members of the royal family and live abroad, they should return the keys to Frogmore Cottage.

This decision came as a blow to Harry, who reportedly asked his father, “You don't want to see your grandchildren anymore, do you?”

According to the serialization of “Endgame” in French magazine Paris Match, the children have only visited the UK once since their move, primarily due to Harry's ongoing legal battle with the Home Office over security arrangements during their stays.

The situation has raised questions about the necessity of buying someone a house in order to spend time with grandchildren.

Many view this as an act of blackmail rather than a heartbreaking plea.

It is worth noting that the Sussexes have purchased a $14 million house in California, leaving little financial capacity for maintaining a property in the UK.

Moreover, London offers numerous hotels for their accommodation.

Curiously, Prince Charles owns various homes with plenty of spare bedrooms, which could have been an alternative solution.

However, it seems that Harry and Meghan insisted on having their own place.

The lease for Frogmore Cottage was not renewed after Harry failed to make the required payments.

It is important to clarify that II could not have gifted the cottage to them, as she did not own it.

The Crown Estate only leases out unoccupied residences on Crown lands; they do not sell them.

The gift from the late Queen may have been intended to cover the lease payments during her lifetime and at the discretion of her successors.

Once the Sussexes moved out, the gift expired, and the default position was either to pay for the lease or lose the property.

Meghan and Harry's attitude towards Frogmore Cottage has been criticized as ungrateful and disparaging.

It appears that Harry had expected to receive Frogmore House, a much grander property, which might explain their disappointment with the smaller cottage.

Nevertheless, it remains perplexing why they made such a fuss when the lease was terminated after they left the country.

Adding to the ongoing saga, French magazine Paris Match has reported that a message circulated within the royal family advising caution in trusting Harry after the release of his memoir.
