Prince Harry’s Netflix Program Could Help Restore His Reputation, Says Report
Prince Harry may find a way to bounce back from his recent reputational slump in the US through his upcoming Netflix program, according to reports.
Recent polls have shown a significant dip in the popularity of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in America following their revelations and claims against the royal family.
With the release of their Netflix docuseries “Harry and Meghan,” Prince Harry's book, and a series of bombshell interviews promoting their launch, the couple has since gone quiet, leaving many wondering about their next move as humanitarian and content producers.
One project that has been announced is “Heart of Invictus,” a multi-episode production set to shine a spotlight on extraordinary Invictus Games competitors from around the world as they prepare for the event that took place in April 2022.
The Sussexes are believed to have worked on the project while attending the Invictus Games in The Hague, as they were followed by a film crew on multiple occasions.
However, no official release date has been shared by Archwell and Netflix.
Jack Royston, Newsweek's chief royal correspondent, reported that one PR expert sees “Heart of Invictus” as a potential way forward for Prince Harry, separate from the public drama surrounding the royal family.
Speaking on the Royal Report podcast, Royston said, “Heart of Invictus might actually be Harry's way out of the reputational slump he's experienced in America.
It is obviously a very unique project.
There are very few people on the planet who can say that they've done anything equivalent to what Harry's doing there.”
Royston continued, stating that focusing on the games makes sense for Prince Harry, as he is a veteran himself who has fought in Afghanistan and experienced PTSD.
By standing up for veterans, Harry could potentially rebuild his brand and restore his reputation.
This shift towards more worthy and less attention-grabbing content could be a way for him to move on from the royally focused shows that have garnered significant attention.
The Invictus Games, which Harry launched in 2014, bring together ill, sick, or injured military members from around the world to compete in various disciplines, highlighting the healing power of sport.
This legacy-making project has been a passion for Prince Harry, and it aligns with his own experiences as a veteran.
In addition to their new projects, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will need to decide if they will continue speaking about their lives as members of the royal family and their departure from the firm.
Choosing to move on from sharing such details could result in generating fewer headlines and capturing a smaller audience.
It remains to be seen what direction they will take.
Between December and January, Harry and Meghan made damaging allegations against the royal family, including claims that King Charles and Camilla's office would brief against them to improve the public image of the monarch and his wife.
However, these allegations did not create the same level of media frenzy as their previous royal projects.
As Prince Harry and Meghan embark on new ventures, only time will tell how their careers as content producers and humanitarians will evolve.
Will “Heart of Invictus” be the turning point for Prince Harry's reputation in America?
