Prince Harry’s Appearance at King Charles’ Coronation Does Little to Ease Tension with Brother, Insider Claims
Despite Prince Harry's plans to attend King Charles' coronation on May 6th, an insider has revealed that his presence is unlikely to mend the strained relationship with his brother, Prince William.
The Duke of Sussex and his older brother are set to reunite at the historic event, but there has been no communication between them in the lead-up to their father's crowning ceremony.
Last month, Prince Harry surprised everyone with a visit to London; however, he did not see King Charles or Prince William during his time there.
This absence only serves as a reminder of the existing rift within the royal family.
A Palace insider, speaking exclusively to People, highlighted the tension that still lingers despite the announcement of Prince Harry's attendance at the coronation.
“It's important not to conflate the coronation with a significant conversation,” said the insider.
The source emphasized that while the event holds historical significance, it is unlikely to resolve the deep-rooted issues between the two brothers.
In his memoir, “Spare,” released earlier this year, Prince Harry disclosed some of the reasons behind the growing divide between him and Prince William.
One particular incident occurred in 2019 when Harry claimed that a confrontation turned physical.
According to Harry, the disagreement escalated when William referred to Meghan Markle as difficult, rude, and abrasive.
In response, Harry defended his wife, stating that William was merely echoing the negative press portrayal of Meghan.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and knocked me to the floor.
I landed on the dog's bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me.
I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” wrote Prince Harry in his memoir.
During an interview with ITV's Tom Bradby earlier this year, Prince Harry expressed his hope for reconciliation with his family before the coronation.
He stated, “There's a lot that can happen between now and then, but the door is always open.
The ball's in their court.
There's a lot to be discussed, and I really hope they're willing to sit down and talk about it.”
However, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received an email regarding the royal event from King Charles' office, it became apparent that the desired conversation was not going to materialize.
A close friend of the couple disclosed to People that they did not hear directly from Charles as Harry had hoped.
The communication was always relayed through intermediaries.
Despite the strained relationship, there has been some progress between the estranged father and son.
