Prince Harry Seeks $900,000 in Damages for Phone Hacking Scandal

The mirror hacking trial concluded recently with pursuing compensation of more than $900,000.

Alongside three others, the Duke of Sussex is taking legal action against the newspaper's publisher, alleging phone hacking and various illicit activities.

The High Court disclosed a summary of the claimants' sought amounts at the end of the seven-week trial.

In his claim, asserts that he should receive £330,000 for 33 newspaper articles that he alleges were obtained through unlawful means.

Additionally, he is seeking £15,000 annually for each of the 16 years during which he claims his phones and voicemails were intercepted, totaling approximately £570,000.

Furthermore, his legal team stated that he should be granted over £120,000 due to extensive unlawful information gathering by private investigators targeting him.

However, the publisher's barrister, Andrew Green, contested Harry's assertions, stating that the Duke's claim of systematic phone hacking over a 16-year period was baseless.

Green highlighted that the timeline began in 1996, a period when Prince Harry did not even possess a mobile phone, undermining the credibility of his claims.

The barrister argued that a thorough analysis rendered Harry's claims unsubstantiated.

Mirror Group Newspapers refutes the allegations of hacking against Prince Harry, contending that he should not receive more than the $1 settlement obtained for a single incident.

Meghan's case involved accessing Harry's private information, for which she was granted a nominal sum despite being found to have misled the court.

On the final day of the trial, Prince Harry's legal team faced a setback when their attempt to introduce additional evidence was rejected by the High Court judge.

The lawyer sought to submit a letter after the evidence submission deadline had passed, prompting the judge to dismiss the request, citing fairness and procedural integrity.

The contentious trial spanned seven weeks and featured testimonies from numerous witnesses, including former journalists, editors, private investigators, and MGM executives.

Prince Harry's appearance in the witness box garnered global attention, marking a rare instance of a senior royal participating in court proceedings.

The intensity of the trial underscored the gravity of the allegations and the public interest surrounding the case.

As the legal battle unfolded, scrutiny intensified on Prince Harry's lawyer, Sherbourne, with critics questioning his tactics and ethics.

Allegations emerged regarding witness tampering and questionable practices employed by the legal team, raising concerns about professional conduct and integrity in high-profile cases.

Amid the courtroom drama, the spotlight shifted towards the intricacies of the case and the implications for all parties involved.
