Prince Harry Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles and Accuses Royal Family of Neglect
In a shocking revelation, Prince Harry has spoken candidly about his battle with mental health issues and accused the British royal family of neglecting him and his wife Meghan.
The Duke of Sussex, now 37, revealed that he turned to alcohol and drugs as a way to numb the pain of his mother Princess Diana's tragic death in 1997.
During an interview with Oprah Winfrey for an Apple TV series on mental health, Harry shared the extent of his struggles.
“I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling,” he confessed.
He admitted to consuming a week's worth of alcohol in just one day, not because he enjoyed it, but as a means to mask his emotions.
The loss of his mother intensified his fears for his own wife Meghan, especially when she battled suicidal thoughts.
Harry expressed his disappointment in the royal family for neglecting their cries for help.
“The thing that stopped her from seeing it through was how unfair it would be on me after everything that had happened to my mum and to now be put in a position of losing another woman in my life, with a baby inside of her, our baby,” he revealed.
“I felt completely helpless.
I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence or total neglect.”
Harry's public criticism of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, has caused yet another public relations crisis for the monarchy.
The Queen expressed sadness upon learning about Harry and Meghan's experiences and acknowledged the need to address the issues of race raised by the couple.
They claimed that an unnamed royal made a racist comment about their son Archie before his birth.
In addition to the mental health revelations, Prince Harry is allegedly facing difficulties with Meghan's focus on fame and money.
An insider shared with US Weekly that the Duke of Sussex longs for a quieter life in Montecito away from the constant media attention.
However, Meghan's pursuit of fame and fortune has left Harry feeling homesick and as though he is living a lie.
Despite his desires to return to England, Meghan remains steadfast in her decision to stay in the United States.
This has led to further criticism of Harry, including his recent speech at the United Nations on Nelson Mandela Day.
Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., took a jab at Harry's involvement in politics, stating that the couple should stick to their interests in Montecito and stay out of political matters.
Prince Harry's revelations about his mental health struggles and accusations against the royal family have sparked widespread attention and concern.
The monarchy now faces yet another public relations challenge as they navigate these sensitive issues.
