Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Lavish Lifestyle in Jeopardy Due to Cannabis Stench
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are currently facing an unexpected challenge in their luxurious Californian abode.
Situated in the affluent neighbourhood of Montecito, the couple's £12 million mansion has been engulfed by a pervasive stench emanating from nearby cannabis farms.
This olfactory nuisance has disrupted the tranquillity of the neighbourhood, prompting concerns among residents.
The royal couple resides in a sprawling estate in Montecito, where they live with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Their palatial home boasts extravagant amenities including 16 bathrooms, 9 bedrooms, a games room, home theatre, spa facilities, elevator, gym, pool, and tennis court.
Having relocated to this opulent residence in 2020 following their departure from royal duties in Britain, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle now find themselves grappling with an unforeseen predicament.
Reports indicate that the noxious odour permeating the neighbourhood is a result of the legal cultivation of cannabis on nearby farms in California.
Notably, one of these farms is in close proximity to the Duke and Duchess's residence, and it is the very location where Meghan Markle is set to film her upcoming Netflix cooking show.
Residents have likened the smell to that of a skunk, describing it as foul and pervasive, permeating the air throughout the neighbourhood.
Residents in the area have been taken aback by the intensity of the odour, with some initially mistaking it for a decaying animal in their vicinity.
However, after unsuccessful attempts by pest control experts to identify the source, it was determined that the smell was originating from the cannabis farms.
In response to this issue, a homeowner has initiated legal action against two of the cannabis farms, excluding the one associated with Meghan Markle's upcoming show.
To combat the overpowering cannabis stench, residents have been advised to utilize air purifiers.
These machines are designed to eliminate various pollutants from the air, such as dust, odours, smoke, and mould spores.
It is estimated that approximately 10 air purifiers per acre would be required to effectively eradicate the pervasive smell, with each unit costing a minimum of £17,000.
The necessity of deploying these machines underscores the severity of the situation faced by the neighbourhood.
Interestingly, Prince Harry has previously been candid about his experiences with drug use, including cannabis, cocaine, and psychedelic mushrooms.
In his memoir “Spear,” released in January last year, he recounted a moment in 2015 when he indulged in smoking marijuana while residing at Nottingham Cottage within Kensington Palace.
Reflecting on his drug use during a conversation with Dr Gabor Marte, author of “The Myth of the Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture,” Prince Harry expressed his nuanced perspective on substance consumption.
