Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Christmas Card Revealed, Sparking Controversy
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently unveiled their much-anticipated Christmas card for the year 2023.
The couple opted for a cheerful photo taken during the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games held earlier this year in Dusseldorf.
The photo showcases the couple against a vibrant deep green backdrop.
The card itself bears a heartfelt message that reads, “On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archwall Productions and Archwall Foundation, we wish you a very happy holiday season.
Thanks for all the support in 2023.”
Accompanying the card is the mission statement of the Archwall Foundation, which emphasizes the power of community building as a transformative solution for mental wellness and collective well-being.
The absence of their children, Archie and Lilibet, from the Christmas card has not gone unnoticed by royal fans, who promptly took to social media to express their disappointment.
One user on Twitter questioned, “Where are the kids?”
while another expressed disbelief, saying, “Is this a joke?
There's no kids.”
A third commenter noted, “This doesn't scream Christmas.
Where are all the decorations?
Where are the children?”
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time the couple has chosen to release a holiday card without featuring their children.
Last year's card showcased a black and white photo of the couple attending the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization's Ripple of Hope award gala in New York City, accompanied by the message, “Wishing you a joyful holiday season.
From our family to yours.”
In 2021, however, Meghan and Harry made their holiday card a family affair, using the opportunity to introduce their newborn daughter, Lily, to the world.
The image, captured by wedding photographer Alexei Lubomirsky, was taken at their residence in Santa Barbara, California, and depicted the couple casually dressed in jeans while seated on a porch.
Harry lovingly held Archie in his arms, while Markle joyfully lifted Lily into the air.
The message inscribed on the card read, “This year 2021, we welcomed our daughter Lilibet to the world.
Archie made us a mama and papa, and Lily made us a family.
As we look forward to 2022, we've made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families.
From those being relocated from Afghanistan to American families in need of paid parental leave.”
The absence of the couple's children in this year's Christmas card has fueled rumors that they might not exist at all.
Additionally, the Archwall Foundation, the charity founded by Harry and Meghan, is currently facing challenges.
The couple recently released an impact report for the foundation, which revealed a decline in donations.
Furthermore, they faced criticism for releasing a new video on the foundation's website shortly after Princess Catherine's video, in which she and her children were seen donating items to a baby bank in the United Kingdom.
This timing has led to speculation that Harry and Meghan's video was intended to divert attention away from Catherine's charitable efforts.
Reports indicate that the Archwall Foundation has experienced a significant $11 million drop in donations compared to the previous year.
The charity's tax filing for 2022 indicates that only $2 million was donated during that period.
These figures underscore the challenges the foundation currently faces in its mission to make a positive impact.
