Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Attendance at King Charles III’s Coronation Remains Uncertain
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have yet to confirm whether they will attend King Charles III's coronation.
Speculation about their attendance began after the Duke of Sussex mentioned in an interview back in January that there were many things that needed to be discussed before he committed to going.
Many royal watchers believe that their attendance depended on whether a list of demands they had would be met.
One of the demands reportedly put forth by the couple was to be featured with their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony following the coronation ceremony.
However, this demand has been denied, leading Prince Harry's biographer to suggest that the Sussexes are furious about not being included in this significant moment.
There have been conflicting reports regarding whether or not the Duke and Duchess wanted or expected to appear on the balcony after Harry's father and stepmother are officially crowned.
Marie Claire reported that after the coronation ceremony, there will be a procession through the streets of London.
Once the procession reaches the palace, the King will take to the balcony and wave at the crowds, accompanied by the rest of the royal family members and their children.
It is at this point that Harry and Meghan requested inclusion.
However, sources who spoke to the Mirror claim that reports of the Sussexes' demands to be included on the balcony are inaccurate.
Angela Levin, author and commentator who spent time with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex while writing Harry, a biographical account, believes that the Sussexes did not actually want to stand on the balcony with the rest of the royals.
Levin stated in an interview with Sky News Australia that the couple demanded to be on the balcony with their children and also requested an apology before the state event.
However, none of these demands were met, and it seems that their authority and kindness were disregarded.
The final group scheduled to appear on the balcony with King Charles includes Queen Camilla, Prince Charles, the Prince and Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Also present will be Princess Anne and her husband, Timothy Lawrence, as well as Prince Edward and his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh (formerly Sophie Countess of Wessex).
Completing the lineup are the late Queen Elizabeth II's cousin, the Duke of Kent, with his sister, Princess Alexandra, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
Notably absent from the balcony appearance will be Prince Andrew, who, like Meghan and Harry, is no longer a working member of the royal family.
