Piers Morgan Celebrates as Journalist Switches Sides on Meghan Markle Debate
Piers Morgan, at 57 years old, couldn't contain his excitement when a journalist publicly admitted to aligning with his perspective on Meghan Markle, putting her in the awkward position of agreeing with the outspoken TV host.
Delighted by this turn of events, Piers humorously pointed out that he is often vindicated in his opinions and jokingly called upon his former co-host Susanna Reid for confirmation.
His elation stemmed from a tweet by Australian publication, The Age, quoting journalist Jacqueline Maley as saying that many individuals, including herself, have shifted to Piers Morgan's side of the ongoing dispute.
The tweet also directed readers to Jacqueline's article titled “Is it okay to switch sides in the Megzy Wars?
Asking for a friend,” which explored the evolving public perception following Meghan's controversial interview with The Cut, notably her striking comparison to Nelson Mandela.
Upon coming across Jacqueline's piece, Piers couldn't resist gloating, asserting confidently, “Cheer up, I'm usually proven right in the end about most things, as Susanna Reid 1-0-0 can confirm.”
As of now, Susanna has yet to respond to Piers' playful jab.
In the aftermath of Meghan's recent interview, Piers has taken umbrage with several statements made by the Duchess.
One remark that particularly irked him was Meghan's assertion that she wouldn't be able to pick up her children from school had they remained in the UK due to the intrusive media presence.
Meghan expressed to journalist Alison P. Davis her concerns about facing a barrage of paparazzi at the school gates, a sentiment that ITV News Royal Editor Chris Shipp contradicted on Twitter.
Chris clarified that only two cameras are allowed for the school run, one for television and one for still photography, casting doubt on Meghan's claim of 40 photographers swarming the scene.
Responding to Chris's debunking of Meghan's statement, Piers commended him for holding the Duchess accountable, remarking, “Yes I know.
So Markle lied as she did to Oprah.
Good to see you calling her out.”
Piers was also perturbed by Meghan's self-identification as a real-life princess during the explosive interview.
An excerpt from The Cut's Twitter featured Meghan acknowledging that people perceive her as a princess and emphasizing the importance of handling that image with care, especially around young girls who view her as a fairy-tale figure.
In response, Piers simply posted a nauseated emoji for his 7.9 million followers to see.
