Netflix Subscribers Plummet as Elon Musk Blames “Woke Mind Virus”

Netflix, the popular streaming platform, recently announced a significant loss of 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022.

This marks the first time in a decade that the company has reported a decrease in its subscriber base.

As a result, Netflix's stock plummeted to a four-year low, causing concern among investors and industry experts.

Entrepreneur and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, weighed in on the situation, attributing the decline in subscribers to what he referred to as the “woke mind virus.”

While Musk did not provide specific details on how Netflix shows contribute to this phenomenon, he agreed with a follower who claimed that the woke mind virus poses a significant threat to civilization.

Speculation arose regarding the potential impact of Harry and Meghan's deal with Netflix on the loss of subscribers.

Some users pointed out the irony of Netflix employing the couple to boost their viewership, only to witness the opposite reaction.

It seems that many users canceled their subscriptions following the announcement of Meghan and Harry's partnership with the streaming giant.

One user named Claudia Skyes expressed her belief that the loss of subscribers would continue, stating, “I should think they can only reduce it further.

I canceled mine following their deal.”

Another user, Rosie0124, echoed this sentiment, revealing that they canceled their subscription on the same day the multi-million pound offer was made to the couple.

L1vapool55 also shared their reason for canceling, stating, “I canceled my subscription because of Harry and Meghan.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Harry and Meghan have become targets of Saturday Night Live's comedy sketches.

During the Weekend Update segment, Colin Jost and Michael Che joked about Elon Musk's potential takeover of Twitter, indirectly referencing Meghan and Harry's move to the US.

Jost questioned why Musk, known for his involvement in electric cars and space exploration, would concern himself with a social media platform.

He humorously compared it to the Prince of England giving up everything to marry an actor from Suits.

In previous episodes of Saturday Night Live, both Meghan and Harry have been subjects of jokes.

During their televised wedding in 2018, a Weekend Update segment took aim at the couple, with Harry being the target of the joke.

However, this time, Meghan found herself in the crosshairs.

The show's host, Daniel Kaluuya, alluded to a controversial revelation from Meghan and Harry's interview with , highlighting the racial concerns expressed by the royal family.

Adding to the intrigue, a royal reporter claimed that Harry and Meghan's recent meeting with the Queen at Windsor Castle may find its way onto Netflix.

According to Neil Sean, whenever II has a private visit with someone at Windsor, it is considered an official visit and is recorded.

While it remains uncertain if a picture was taken during the meeting, if one exists, it would be owned by the crown.

Sean speculated that it could potentially be featured in a Netflix documentary or shared publicly.

The decline in Netflix subscribers and the subsequent stock crash have raised questions about the streaming platform's future.

As the woke mind virus continues to be a topic of discussion, it remains to be seen how Netflix will address these challenges and regain the trust of its audience.
