The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who recently returned to the UK, did not join other senior members of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the annual RAF flyover, which marked the start of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Instead, Prince Harry and watched the Trooping the Colour flyover from the Major General's office at Horse Guards Parade.

They made a low-key return to public life in the UK and were seen peering out of the large windows during the ceremony.

Meghan was also spotted putting her fingers to her lips to signal the girls to lower their volume, and Lena and her older sister Miss Tindall mimicked her finger motion while laughing.

During the event, the Duchess of Sussex was seen chatting with Isla and Savannah Phillips, who were holding Lena.

At one point, she even performed an exaggerated air kiss, much to their amusement.

This appearance at Trooping the Colour marked Prince Harry and Meghan's first joint public outing with the royal family since they stepped back from their roles as working royals in 2020.

They joined other non-working royals away from the balcony to watch the flyover from the Major General's office.

Accompanying them on this trip to the UK are their two young children, and .

This visit will allow II to meet her great-grandson, who will be turning one on Saturday.

Trooping the Colour was a momentous occasion as it kicked off four days of celebrations for the Queen's record-breaking 70 years on the throne.

The monarch waved to cheering crowds outside Buckingham Palace while a military parade took place.

Thousands of royal fans lined the streets of London, waving flags in support of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's presence at Trooping the Colour was highly anticipated, as it marked their first royal event since stepping back from their roles as working members of the royal family.

They were seen playfully interacting with royal children, including Savannah and Isla Phillips, as well as Mia and Lena Tindall, during the parade at Horse Guards Parade.

Meghan looked elegant in a navy dress and a large hat, while 's husband, Edoardo Moppellimozzi, observed nearby.

The couple also had the opportunity to chat with the Queen's cousin, the Duke of Kent.

However, they did not make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast, as the Queen had decided that only working royals should be present.

A spokesperson from the palace previously stated that the Queen, after careful consideration, had decided to limit this year's traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance to Her Majesty and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on her behalf.

Earlier in the day, cheers erupted from the crowd on the Mall as Prince George, , and were seen in a carriage with their proud parents, Kate and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The traditional carriage procession, known as the Birthday Parade, marked the start of four days of festivities honoring the Queen.

The young Cambridge children and the Duchess traveled in a carriage called a barouche, followed by another carrying the Earl and Countess of Wessex, along with their children Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn.
