Meghan Markle’s Request for Lilibet’s Outfit Turned Down by J.Crew
American clothing retailer J.Crew has become a favorite of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, known for its preppy fashion and timeless pieces.
The brand's designs align perfectly with Meghan Markle's love for high-end casual clothing, and she has added several of their products to her wardrobe.
However, it seems that J.Crew recently declined Meghan's request for a beautiful and unique dress for her daughter, Lilibet, to wear on Archie's upcoming birthday in May.
According to an insider, the reason behind J.Crew's refusal was Meghan's involvement in recent scandals.
Particularly, both Meghan and Harry wore outfits from the brand during their controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, which received significant criticism from royal fans.
This decision by J.Crew suggests that they may be distancing themselves from Meghan due to the negative attention surrounding her.
Meghan's party for Archie is expected to be an intimate gathering of close friends and family.
In the past, the couple has preferred private celebrations, often opting for a simple social media post and charitable advocacy rather than public-facing events.
However, this year's celebration holds significance as Archie turns another year older.
Interestingly, J.Crew has chosen Princess Charlotte to be their kid ambassador.
The brand experienced a surge in sales when Charlotte wore one of their dresses in a photograph with the late Queen Elizabeth.
The image, taken by Kate Middleton, was recently released to commemorate what would have been the Queen's 97th birthday.
In the picture, Charlotte stands right behind Queen Elizabeth, wearing a striking red floral dress, while others in the photo don blue or green tones that blend with the room's decor.
Princess Charlotte's dress in the photograph is called the Girl's Floral Long Sleeve Smocked Dress and is from a past season, no longer available for purchase.
However, a similar version of the dress, featuring an orange floral print, can still be bought for £89.
Royal fans were enamored with Charlotte's style, taking to social media to express their admiration for the J.Crew dress.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle themselves have also been seen sporting J.Crew attire.
During their Oprah Winfrey interview, which aired on March 7th, Prince Harry wore a grey J.Crew suit, specifically the Ludlow Slim Fit Suit Jacket with Double Vent in Italian Wool in Gazer Grey.
This suit has become a staple in his wardrobe, having been worn on multiple public occasions, including when he introduced newborn Archie to the world in 2019 and at his son's christening.
Meghan, on the other hand, chose a black Armani dress for the sit-down talk with Winfrey but sported a more outdoorsy look while showing the host their chicken coop, wearing hunter boots and a lightweight jacket from J.Crew.
While Meghan may have experienced a setback with J.Crew declining her request, it is clear that the brand continues to be popular among the royal family.
Princess Charlotte's endorsement of J.Crew through her dress choice further solidifies the brand's appeal.
As for Meghan, she will undoubtedly continue to showcase her fashion choices, albeit without the support of J.Crew for her daughter's outfit on Archie's birthday.
