Meghan Markle’s Podcast Struggles to Compete with Kim Kardashian in Spotify Charts
Meghan Markle's popularity in the United States seems to be on the decline, according to royal expert Kinsey Schofield.
During an interview on GB News Breakfast, Schofield discussed Meghan's latest episode of her podcast, Archetypes, and revealed that the American audience is becoming less interested in her.
When asked about Meghan's podcast, Schofield admitted that there has been a significant drop in interest.
“I mean, I have to be honest with you, if you look at the numbers, her podcast, that very first episode, it blew up.
I think that people were very curious, but lately Kim Kardashian is beating her on the Spotify charts,” Schofield explained.
Schofield also commented on Meghan's change in direction, stating that while it is refreshing to see her complain less, it comes off as insincere because it is such a drastic shift.
She criticized Meghan for not understanding the difference between a stereotype and an archetype, suggesting that Meghan chose archetypes for her podcast because it aligns with her brand of Archwell.
According to Schofield, Spotify had been pursuing Meghan and Prince Harry for nearly two years to produce content after their holiday special in 2020 fell behind whale noises.
So far, Meghan has released seven episodes, each covering different archetypes such as Ambition, Diva, Singleton, Dragon Lady, Crazy, The Bimbo, and Angry Black Woman.
However, Schofield argued that Meghan's belief that these archetypes hold women back is outdated.
“We don't live in the '50s and '60s where the female s** was purely there to look pretty and prop men up,” Schofield emphasized.
In another blow to Meghan's reputation, expert Daniela Elsa highlighted a significant decline in her viewing figures.
Elsa pointed out the contrast in attendance between a Women's Fund of Central Indiana event four years ago, where former First Lady Michelle Obama drew a crowd of around 13,000, and Meghan's upcoming Power of Women event, which is projected to have an audience of only 2,500.
Writing for news.com.au, Elsa noted that the Indianapolis Marriott downtown, where Meghan's event will take place, has a maximum capacity of 2,500.
In comparison, Michelle Obama's event was held at an indoor arena and sold out with 13,000 attendees.
Elsa argued that Meghan does not have the same level of influence as Michelle Obama, stating, “Clearly, the expectations about what sort of crowd Meghan will pull are not even vaguely in the same ballpark or even indoor arena as that of Michelle.”
Elsa further highlighted Meghan's struggles with numbers, pointing out that a recent YouTube upload from Variety featuring Meghan garnered 213,000 views, while a previous front page star, Ana de Armas, received 279,000 views.
These recent developments indicate that Meghan Markle's popularity may be waning in the United States, as her podcast fails to compete with Kim Kardashian in the Spotify charts and her event attendance falls far short of Michelle Obama's previous record-breaking numbers.
