Meghan Markle’s Mysterious Pinky Ring Raises Questions About Its Origins
Meghan Markle's diamond pinky ring has become the subject of speculation and intrigue, as the Sussexes have chosen not to disclose its origins.
Rumors have circulated that the stunning piece of jewelry was a gift from an unknown Middle Eastern donor.
The curiosity surrounding the ring's provenance intensified when Meghan prominently wore it on the cover of Time magazine and during her recent visit to New York City.
Renowned celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz is credited with creating the ring, which experts estimate features a two-carat emerald solitaire valued at approximately $62,000.
When confronted with inquiries about its source, a representative for the Sussexes initially claimed that the ring was acquired through a stylist, effectively sidestepping any notions of a mysterious diamond benefactor.
However, they later backtracked on this denial and clarified that the reference was solely to a ring on Meghan's left hand – a $525 pinky ring from Chiffon symbolizing women's empowerment.
Strangely, no further mention was made regarding the Lorraine Schwartz ring on her right hand, leaving us to wonder if Meghan has something to hide about its origin.
This particular diamond first made an appearance on her finger in October 2020.
Debate continues as to whether Meghan may have received the diamond while she was still a working royal, despite there being no public record of such a gift in accordance with royal protocol.
It remains unclear if the potential Middle Eastern gift was presented to her during her tenure as a working royal or after she completed her final official duties in early March 2021.
Although Meghan did not undertake an official visit to the Middle East, it is plausible that she made a private trip.
Buckingham Palace only discloses gifts received by members of the royal family during official engagements in the UK or overseas, and there is no public record of Meghan being presented with any diamonds.
Gifts sent to the royals outside of official engagements are recorded but remain undisclosed.
Inquiries regarding the diamonds have been redirected by the palace to the Sussexes' representatives in the United States.
This mystery surrounding the pinky ring follows earlier criticism directed at Markle when it was revealed that she wore a pair of chandelier diamond earrings during her tour of Fiji in October 2018.
These earrings were a wedding gift from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and sparked controversy due to the Crown Prince's alleged involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Michael Eisner, the head of a human rights group established by Khashoggi prior to his death, expressed outrage, stating that the earrings were purchased with blood money and given to Markle by a murderer.
Markle's lawyer has stated that she had no knowledge of the reports linking the Crown Prince to Khashoggi's death at the time she received the earrings.
The Chopard earrings were officially presented to the Queen by the Crown Prince as a wedding gift for Meghan and Harry in 2018.
The Crown Prince, who also serves as Saudi Arabia's deputy prime minister and day-to-day ruler, has accepted responsibility for the murder, yet denies prior knowledge of the execution.
The Dawn human rights group, led by Eisner and Khashoggi's fiancé T.J. Chengis, filed a lawsuit against the Crown Prince and 20 alleged co-conspirators in a US court last year.
During her photoshoot for Time magazine's Most Influential People issue, Meghan adorned herself with an astonishing $445,000 worth of jewelry, including the Lorraine Schwartz ring that has been spotted on her hand on multiple occasions.
She first showcased the ring in another Timeshoot back in October 2020, where Page Six reported that Lorraine Schwartz crafted it from diamonds gifted to the couple from the Middle East.
Meghan also wore the ring in her 40th birthday video alongside Melissa McCarthy.
