Meghan Markle’s Mood Board: A Self-Indulgent Scrapbook of the Past

Just when we thought couldn't possibly become more self-absorbed, she surprised us yet again.

In a recent reveal, the Duchess of Sussex showcased a mood board that is so indulgently narcissistic, it could only come from someone with the self-awareness of a decorative throw pillow adorned with clichés like “live, laugh, love.”

This peculiar display comes just ahead of her latest Netflix endeavor, With Love, Meghan, giving us a peek into what supposedly inspires her.

This mood board, which seems to have been thrown together on a lazy Sunday afternoon, is divided into several sections that scream self-promotion.

Among the highlights is an apparent nod to her ongoing quest for financial gain, accompanied by a dash of culinary pretension.

Phrases like “farm-fresh eggs,” “carrots two ways,” and “sweet treats” hint at her aspirations to become the next Martha Stewart.

It seems Meghan has taken it upon herself to elevate the art of cooking, or at least, the conversation around it.

And then there are the quotes—oh, the quotes!

Among the profound nuggets plastered on her board, you'll find gems like “stay close to people who feel like sunshine” and the uniquely insightful, “you cannot make everybody happy; you are not a jar of Nutella.” Riveting material, indeed.

But the pièce de résistance?

A cheeky note that reads, “I love you with all my butt.

I would say heart, but my btt is bigger.” Shakespeare must be shaking in his boots over this literary contribution.

When one thinks of a mood board, the expectation is often to see forward-thinking aspirations.

However, Meghan's creation resembles more of a glorified scrapbook, filled with her past achievements—or at least those she deems worthy of recognition.

There's a nostalgic nod to her now-defunct blog, The Tig, which she might be considering reviving.

Of course, her own photos make a prominent appearance, as does a cartoonish illustration of her and in wellies, because nothing says “happily ever after” like a poorly drawn fantasy of countryside life.

Scattered among the random post-it notes featuring her handwriting—because authenticity must always be staged—one particular message stands out: “Love you Meghan, great menu,” signed off as T.A.

Nestled in the corner of the board is a small craft allegedly created by her son, .

The timing feels suspiciously calculated, especially since Catherine, Princess of Wales, recently shared her children's artwork.

Nothing Meghan does seems accidental, and this feeble attempt to insert herself into the conversation reeks of desperation.

The positioning of 's drawing, almost hidden next to her sprawling shrine of self-promotion, speaks volumes about her true priorities.

Typically, a mood board serves as a tool for manifesting future ambitions, not a compilation of past glories.

Yet, Meghan's existence is a walking contradiction.

She craves privacy while simultaneously seeking the spotlight, denounces the royal family while capitalizing on her former title, and now creates a vision board that essentially serves as a greatest hits album of her life.

If she truly had a vision, wouldn't it transcend the aesthetic sensibilities of a Pinterest board from 2008?

What even is this mood board?

Is it a last-ditch effort to maintain relevance?

A marketing scheme as usual?

Or perhaps an art project designed for the most basic of wine moms?

Whatever it is, it feels tragically outdated.

In today's world, where most people rely on organizational apps, Meghan has opted to channel her inner middle schooler by physically pinning scraps of inspiration onto a board.
