Meghan Markle Vies for Winifred Banks Role in Mary Poppins Sequel, Denied by Late Actress’ Manager

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has once again made headlines with her ambitions, this time aiming to secure the role of Winifred Banks in the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel.

This revelation comes just hours after the passing of the original actress, Glynis Johns, who portrayed the suffragette mother of Jane and Michael Banks in the beloved 1964 classic.

Johns peacefully passed away at the age of 100 while residing in a Los Angeles assisted living facility.

Residing in Los Angeles herself with her husband Prince Harry and their two children, Meghan had been expressing her interest in the Winifred Banks role for several months, persistently lobbying Disney and the filmmakers.

She saw this opportunity as a way to revive her acting career, leverage it for her causes, and believed it would enhance her popularity, credibility, and chances at winning an Oscar.

However, Meghan's plans were quickly thwarted when she encountered Mitch CLM, Johns' manager of over 50 years.

Disney had informed CLM of their intentions to pay tribute to Johns in the sequel by utilizing original footage and voice recordings to reprise her iconic role.

Touched by this gesture, CLM cooperated with Disney and firmly denied Meghan's demands.

He not only rebuked her behavior but also stated that she lacked talent, class, and respect, deeming her unworthy of playing Winifred Banks or any significant role.

CLM emphasized Johns' legendary status, her long and illustrious career, and the immense love she received from fans and colleagues alike.

CLM promptly reported Meghan's actions to Disney and the filmmakers, leading to her immediate ban from the studio.

He expressed his astonishment at Meghan's audacity, believing that marrying Prince Harry would guarantee her lead roles and even an Oscar.

He labeled her as selfish and highlighted that her previous acting opportunities were solely due to the influence of her ex-husband Trevor, who produced movies, and her father.

However, despite their assistance, Meghan's lack of acting skills became evident, and her behavior was deemed incredibly rude.

In response to this controversy, a statement was issued condemning Meghan's behavior while also expressing condolences to Glynis Johns' family.

The filmmakers confirmed that they would proceed with the planned tribute and dedicate the Mary Poppins sequel, titled Mary Poppins Returns Again, to Johns' memory.

As for the highly anticipated sequel, set for release in 2025, it will star Emily Blunt reprising her role as Mary Poppins, alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, and Julie Walters as Ellen.

The film will also feature cameo appearances from d–k Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep, all returning to reprise their respective roles.

The storyline will follow Mary Poppins' return to London 25 years later to assist the grown-up Banks children and their families as they face a new crisis.
