Meghan Markle Struggles to Connect with Her Mother Amidst Social Distancing Measures
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has found herself distanced from her mother, Doria Ragland, despite moving back to Los Angeles.
The couple, along with their son Archie, had relocated to a secluded compound in L.A. just before the United States border with Canada closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, Meghan and Prince Harry have been practicing social distancing and have not been able to see Meghan's mother, who also resides in Los Angeles.
Doria Ragland, a social worker and yoga instructor, was the only member of Meghan's family present at the royal wedding in 2018 and was in the U.K. for Archie's birth.
She has been an important figure in Meghan's life, even spending the holidays with the couple prior to their announcement of stepping down as senior royals.
However, due to the current circumstances, Meghan has been unable to connect with her mother.
In other news, it has been revealed that Doria Ragland texted Thomas Markle, Meghan's father, after the birth of their son Archie.
According to a biography, Meghan did not want to know if her father replied to the message.
This is significant considering Meghan's strained relationship with her own father and the focus on fatherhood in her new children's book, “The Bench,” which is inspired by the bond between Prince Harry and Archie.
Meghan's relationship with her father has been difficult, and she chose not to contact him after Archie's birth.
Instead, she asked her mother to inform him before the official announcement.
In the book “Finding Freedom,” co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand reveal that Doria messaged Thomas with the news as requested by Meghan.
However, Meghan did not want to know if her father responded to the message.
The couple also shared the news with other family members and close friends.
They informed the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Prince William, along with a picture of the newborn.
Harry also made sure to inform Princess Diana's family and his former nanny, Tiggy Legbourne.
Additionally, he informed their head of communications, Sarah Latham, before they returned to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
When it came to announcing the news to the public, Harry wanted to do it in his own way.
He arranged for cameras to come to Windsor Castle's Mews, where he stood and shared the happy news in a candid video.
Expressing his awe at how women handle childbirth, he announced the birth of their son and reassured everyone that both mother and baby were doing well.
Despite being physically distanced from her loved ones, Meghan Markle continues to navigate her new life as a mother and wife.
The challenges she faces in maintaining relationships with her family highlight the complexities of her journey.
As she focuses on her own family, she also finds inspiration in the bond between Prince Harry and Archie, which she explores in her new children's book.
