Meghan Markle Sells £11 Million Mansion to Cover Podcast Flop
In a shocking turn of events, Meghan Markle has made the decision to sell her £11 million mansion in order to recoup losses from her unsuccessful podcast venture.
The Duchess of Sussex recently sat down for an interview where she candidly discussed various topics, including her past struggles as a working royal and her new life in California.
During the interview, which took place at Meghan and Prince Harry's lavish Montecito home in Santa Barbara, the couple's residence became a focal point of conversation.
Meghan revealed that finding a new home was a challenging task, especially since neither she nor Harry had jobs at the time.
She shared, “We were looking in this area and this house kept popping up online in searches.
At first, we resisted booking a viewing because we didn't have jobs.
It felt like window shopping for things we couldn't afford.”
Despite their initial reservations, Meghan and Harry eventually decided to visit the property, which was described as a humble abode for billionaires.
The couple fell in love with the house even before seeing its interiors, as Harry pointed out two palm trees connected at the bottom, symbolizing their union.
After making the decision to purchase the mansion, Meghan expressed, “We did everything we could to get this house.”
The stunning property boasts nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a pool, and even a chicken coop.
The Sussexes acquired the residence for a whopping $14.65 million (£12.49 million).
It is worth noting that Meghan and Harry stepped down as full-time working members of the royal family in March 2020.
They initially stayed with their son Archie Harrison in Canada before relocating to Tyler Perry's Los Angeles home for a few months.
Later in the year, the couple announced their purchase of the Montecito mansion.
Once settled in their new home, Meghan and Harry began sharing updates about their future endeavors.
They signed a deal with Netflix in September 2020 to produce video content, including the docu-series “Heart of Invictus” and an animated series called “Pearl.”
However, “Pearl” was canceled due to cost-cutting measures by the streaming platform.
In December 2020, the couple made another major deal, this time with audio streaming platform Spotify.
Meghan recently released the first episode of her podcast series, where she aims to challenge labels that hold women back.
Tennis star Serena Williams was her first guest, discussing the negative connotations surrounding female ambition.
The next episode, featuring singer Mariah Carey, is set to be released soon.
In light of Meghan's interview, she has faced criticism for allegedly deflecting attention away from her own family struggles by focusing on Prince Harry and the royal family.
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield accused Meghan of avoiding accountability by shifting the weight onto her husband.
Schofield referred to Meghan's comments about Prince Harry losing his father due to their move away from the UK.
It is clear that Meghan Markle's journey since stepping back from royal duties has been eventful, filled with ups and downs.
While her podcast venture may not have been as successful as anticipated, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Duchess of Sussex and her endeavors outside of the royal family.
